I did a search but the reports were a little dated. Hope to be in Broome in a coupla weeks. Recommendations on caravan parks in Broome. We will probably stay a week, maybe leave the van overnight to visit some outlying places.

We stayed in one of the overflow camps last year. I think it was PCYC - plenty of grass, power etc. Quite central to everything, but then Broome isn't all that big.
I did the Horizontal Falls flight, but was disappointed as there were so many planes in the air, we didn't go down below 2000ft.

The wealthier GN's from Perth all head north in winter with their m/homes and vans, so you may struggle to find a free CP in Broome.
But if you have wikicamps, there is one not far out of Broome which is apparently very good as well as a farm stay with water, power etc

Yep ring first . Apparently we where told by a few . Nomads have left Broom of their list due to roads blocks etc in the past ., No CP receipt no entry ., We got good discount by ringing first ..

We stopped there for a week last Dec at Broome Gateway. $25 a night no power and out of town a bit. Suited us OK. As it was a quiet period then, we were OK to run genie if required.

As stated above, at this time of the year it is difficult to get a site in a caravan park in or near Broome. Last time we did it, we stayed at Derby and left early in the morning for Broome. We got there about 10:00 am and went to the first park we could find. The manager (rude bugger he was too) said "there are 2 sites - No XXX and No YYY. Have a look at them and if you want one its yours. We chose a site right near the water - really good although the whole park was crowded. Just rolling up will almost certainly fail.
The first time we went to Broome (1991), we rolled in about 2:30 pm. Went to a CP. "Do you have a booking?" No. "Sorry". This was repeated until finally we got to a park on the road to the wharf. As we drove in, 2 caravans were turing around and heading out. We weren't holding our breaths... We walked in to the office and as we entered, the manager said to his wife "What about those 2 sites left - do you think they will show tonight?" His wife said 'NO - let them go' and then he turned to us and we asked for a site for 3 nights. "Yes - do you want an ensuite site or an ordinary sire?" We chose the ensuite site. I guess that someone missed out that night. Mind you, the same happened to us later in the trip at Denham - when we got there late, they had no site for us despite having booked 2 days before.

Left Broome last Monday.
We stayed at Roebuck Roadhouse 33 kms out of Broome. $33 per night, with reasonable facilities, poor mobile and no TV. We enjoyed it though, and the drive in each day only took 15 - 20 minutes. when I did the sums for staying there and driving in, opposed to staying in Broome, for the 5 nights we were there, it worked out a bit cheaper the way we did it (I am a frustrated accountant so like playing with the numbers!)
All parks in town were full, and the overflows were filling, and it was difficult to get anywhere to consider a booking when I rang before going there from Derby.
I would call all of them now, set a date, and just commit to it if you can get a booking. Take what you can get, as all parks seem reasonable, but none have overly large sites, although they will fit most vehicles.
It is worth going, with the old town centre being good with the heritage buildings. Apart from that, Broome to me was a nice, but not outstanding, place

Bewdy, thanks all for the info. Looks like we'll have to sit down and work out a schedule, then start ringing around.

We stayed at the Gateway - didn't need a booking (peak time) - big sites, we were charged for three sites, but could have all fitted on one - as they say - no power, but good water, great amenities, and friendly place.
Have also stayed at the Pistol Club, on the wharf road, it is open as an overflow in "the season". Great spot, added bonus, the practice nights, and the Customs guys coming in for target practice one day!

We also stayed at Roebuck Roadhouse last July when we were over that way. We liked the place. Didn't bother us to drive to town. We must be the lucky ones because we don't book ahead as we don't know from one day to the next were we will be. We have a date to leave home and a date to be home and take the rest as it comes, but I know others like more certainty in their travels.

We are in Broome now for 4 nights. Booked the Palms CP at Cable Beach as it had the best Wikicamps reviews. Booked 2 weeks ago and we have to change sites after 2 nights. It's OK, nothing special, and the most money we have EVER spent per night. We'll have to free camp all the way home LOL

Imo. Anyone traveling up the west coast WA. . I find the towns south of Broom better .. Don't hurry . 80 mile beach is great . Take your time going down the unsealed road 20 to 40 kph . Keeps dust at a low also .. It's worth it . Came across a few who said they didn't want to go off road . It's almost a long driveway .

We also stayed at the Roebuck Plains roadhouse. Pretty good, live entertainment most nights and not that far to drive in to Broome.

Is there a dump point at Roebuck? If not where do you dump?

Not at Roebuck Plains CP from what I can see from Mr. Google. We used their facilities whilst we were there. (If I'm wrong here someone please correct me).

No dump point at Roebuck Plains or in Broome as a public one.
You need to ask at one of the caravan parks in town if you can use theirs. I was directed by the Visitor Centre to the Roebuck Bay CP as they weren't charging. That was last week.
