Hi guys, I have. 2012 Chev Silverado LTZ 2500. My question is, I recently put 12 litres of Add Blue into her, but it was only 10 mths ago I added 6 ltrsto top her up.... Can anyone tell me if they are supposed to use that amount, when during that time I have travelled about 1600 Klm

If it's the Urea additive ? It goes into a small sepetate tank .. Injector yes through exhaust to clean & helps exhaust emissions .. Not in your fuel .. Tmk if it runs out ? Engine will go into limp home mode .

I know nothing about AdBlue but found the following on the AdBlue web site
How much AdBlue do I need?
Average consumption of AdBlue is generally 5% of diesel use, so you will need to tank much less for AdBlue then you do for diesel. You will use about 5 liters of AdBlue to every 100 liters of diesel.
If you are using 15L/100k of fuel then you should have used 12L of AdBlue if my sums are right.
1600/100 x 15 x 0.05

Thanks for the info, it has helped a little, but I have also been advised to have the emissions system removed, then won't have all this hassle...
thanks

Hi Branchi
If it helps I can only give you a comparison, based on what you post you are saying you used 6L Add Blue in 1600km? = 0.0038L/100Km
Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5% that is used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust of diesel vehicles
I drive (at work ) a 12L 6 cyl bus that does 52L/100Km and uses Add Blue at a rate 3L/100Km
Your 6.6L is using a lot less in comparison even taking into account the difference in engine displacement.
Maybe a call to a Holden dealer service dept may be able to give you a figure of what the usage should be for your vehicle.
Aus Kiwi is right that if you run out of Add Blue your Silverado will go into limp mode
Cheers
