Hoping someone who id brighter than me can help me stop the cold coming through the floor, there is no leaks it is just the cold. Don't want to put carpet down but I can't think how else to insulate the floor. The van is nice as snuggly when closed up for the night except the floor which is cold. Any help keeping my footsies warm appriciated
Cheers Chris

We went to Bunnings and bought rubber backed mats. We have two of them and they go the length of the centre of the van. Hard wearing - just sweep the sand off or hose them down and drape over something to dry them off. Under our table and alongside the bed we have bought fluffy bathroom mats - thick and warm, rubber backed again and fit almost as if they were made to measure.
Our van is supposed to be fully insulated, including the floor - but I can just guess how then the polystyrene is !
On very cold nights we wear bed socks and then slippers with rubber soles so you can go outside without getting your slippers soaked

Is there moisture coming up through floor ? Can make it seem colder ? Simply painting under floor ? Or roof Tyler type lining ? There is a foam type tile than can be glued under floors ??

Agree .. I have one pair for inside & the old patched ones for outside.
Also use a 240v fan heater on the floor just before I get out of bed.
Best to stay home during winter.

We snuggle up to each other as well as having a hot water bottle each. We have carpet sample mats each side of our bed to step out onto. Next come the ugg boots. On goes the kettle & fan heater if we're on power. Snug as a bug in a rug.

We had a good surplus of carpet left over from when we recarpted our home. So I cut same to fit in the van. Also cut 2 pieces to go won each side of the island bed.
Carpet places would have off cuts for your needs.
Apart from that... I think others have the same thoughts as us.
Diesel heater is a great help but expensive project comparted to other options.

Your floor is "normally" 1\2 to 3\4 in Ply with sometimes (a big mistake) a Galv sheet under it to hold in the moisture and rot the timber out. It does......
I normally paint outside underfloor with Black Mastic paint on every van I buy. and stay North of Rocky.. \Apart from that. thick Carpet. Thicker the better. but never seal it down, keep removable. and put some under beds and in cupboards too, Cold will get in that way too.
I've always had a coupla 240v dual fan heaters. one for each end. $30 ea and change every 5 yrs or so. Plus we never go below Gladdie.
Fixes the heat, or lack of. Problems.
I'm sitting here in Yeppoon Heater on (25deg) in my jocks. and the pool at 32deg. will turn heater off again in a few weeks, when outside temp's get over 25 deg again..
You can stick the cold where it fits. Brrrrrrrrrrrr.
We're in hibernation mode for 6 weeks or so.

We have put rubber backed carpet from Bunnings on top of the Lino, I like it not only for warmth but also it can be picked up and shaken outside. It does not seem to matter how careful one is sand etc always seems to make its way inside.

So do I - ours is a bus with storage bins underneath, so VERY cold. $10 slippers solve the problem. And if it's really cold, extra socks.

We bought pilates mats. They are grey thick rubber which I cut to fit around the floor and cupboards. They roll up when it is warm and really insulate the motorhome floor in the cold. Currently in Atherton and no cold comes through the floor. Only needed to have socks on one night in Ravenshoe when the fog rolled in and the temp dropped. The mats can be lifted out and brushed down and hosed when we get home
Works a treat.
