..... not sure anyone is panicking A-K I would have thought fore-armed is fore-warned.
No need to panic - just keep away from roads that have been badly affected by rain - following advice on conditions is called being sensible I would have thought.
The 'authorities' have much more important things to do than waste time and resources rescuing bloody tourists who ignore advice - particularly in times of adverse weather conditions.

We went for at climb up one of the peaks at Wilpena Pound today. Was pretty windy, had to brace our selves against a rock to hold the camera steady enough. Was a lot of water seeping out of the rock faces what with all the rain they have had the last week or so. Just starting again as I write this . Have just been told to put the BBQ on out side.

Hey Woody, I stayed dry, the BBQ is under the awning, beef schnitzel and onions. Us Kiwi's are not stupid, regardless of what that Chief Dougweeeeee says.

Hell yes . Drive to conditions . Besides we can stop at any time . We have our house with us !! We drove up west coast where there was flooding a week before ., You wouldn't know it when we went through .
Drove through Canada, South Island in similar conditions . Not just up in mountain area . As I'm typing this .. Mrs has walked out with towels ., off for a cool swim . N/T is nice ..
