Any info would be appreciated

It's all up to the servicing . Sure it's easy to hear negative things about automotive things . But most only care about maintenance when things stop working ! Then omg better check oil , check this and that . Take to mechanic ., too late . Like our health . With mechanical things it can't be healed or undone .

Sorry to give you such bad news, but us Kiwis are good at a few things (and no sheep jokes.....there are more sheep per head of population in Aust now than in NZ)

hi
Pk single cab 3.0lt `07
some items from new some at 40,000kms some at 60,000kms Currently 80,000kms Things I have experienced gears going very notchy first clutch you will probably need the aftermarket flywheel kit Centre splines if u tow often will have movement Power steering box has noise occasionally whining Air con is rubbish in high humidity Occasionally u may have water entry into cabin in the morning after heavy overnight rain Starting roughly dealer wont pick it but head gasket or ECU injectors replaced due to bad fuel economy faulty new injector bonnet catch needs Ford recall so it does not fly off at speed Rear diff plug filler hole to low there is a recall at Ford Its a sticker ha ha ha ha ha put diff on angle and then fill inlet manifold full of sludge and carbon sensors in inlet manifold get covered in sludge If u are a larger person it encourages it but not the only cause . The seat wires will poke thru the seat mainly on the sides of both base and back support
All of the above is common to most Ranger/ Bt50 owners as well
.................Items that are happening to many early Ranger /Bt50 owners................ Blown EGR cooler Causing overheating and destroys head Blown Head Gasket Exploding /Blown rear diff no oil most likely due to diff plug height ECU Recall Factory cruise control was a major issue for Ford .They pulled it production Auto transmission not changing properly Ford does have issues with many of there autos in other cars as well . surprise surprise 4wd 5th gear rectification kit from FORD There are a number of reports and proof by one my friends blown engine /conrod thru side of block. Mazda would not pay 3mths out of warranty .
Hope this helps Swamp ps our next car was a Hilux no suprises

No vehicle is free of issues . A work Hilux has recently spun the outer ring off the harmonic balancer. Pushing timing cover onto valve train drive . Disabiling cam rotation . Result ? Smashed and broken cam . Whole new engine .. The transmissions in them are not as tuff as the older Toyota's . Or they havnt up graded trans with newer engines torque / power levels ., EGR is common issue with new diesels due to new emissions . Often these things are missed in servicing ?

We bought a run-out PK model in January 2011 just before the 3.2 was released. We found it a great vehicle until it was struck by lightning in our driveway in January 2015. It had 70,000+ kms on the speedo, 50,000 kms of those would have been clocked up towing our 17ft caravan which it did with one leg in the air. We'd still have it now if it wasn't for Huey! It went like clockwork for 4 years. Fuel consumption was good while towing. Ford Dealer service was crap, we found another diesel mechanic after the first year of ownership.

some items from new some at 40,000kms some at 60,000kms Currently 80,000kms
Things I have experienced
gears going very notchy
first clutch you will probably need the aftermarket flywheel kit
Centre splines if u tow often will have movement
Power steering box has noise occasionally whining
Air con is rubbish in high humidity
Occasionally u may have water entry into cabin in the morning after heavy overnight rain
Starting roughly dealer wont pick it but head gasket or ECU
injectors replaced due to bad fuel economy
faulty new injector
bonnet catch needs Ford recall so it does not fly off at speed
Rear diff plug filler hole to low there is a recall at Ford Its a sticker ha ha ha ha ha put diff on angle and then fill
inlet manifold full of sludge and carbon
sensors in inlet manifold get covered in sludge
If u are a larger person it encourages it but not the only cause . The seat wires will poke thru the seat mainly on the sides of both base and back support
All of the above is common to most Ranger/ Bt50 owners as well

Blown EGR cooler Causing overheating and destroys head
Blown Head Gasket
Exploding /Blown rear diff no oil most likely due to diff plug height
ECU
Recall Factory cruise control was a major issue for Ford .They pulled it production
Auto transmission not changing properly Ford does have issues with many of there autos in other cars as well . surprise surprise
4wd 5th gear rectification kit from FORD
