What do you do with the TV set when traveling. Do any of you leave it secured to the wall bracket, adequately cushioned and secured against movement. While so far we have taken it off and stowed it on the bed, it pays to remember it came all the way from China, then trucked to its destination, chucked around in some ware house, then distributed to some retailer.
I am wanting to tidy up the wiring, and it would be better if the TV was a permanent fixture.

This topic has been pretty well thrashed in the past and it seems to be 50/50 as to who takes their TV off the bracket and those that don't - and all have good reasons for doing so and none who said they don't take their TV down had had problems.
We take ours down because the 'van Dealer said it was the safest. We store it face down on the seat with part of it tucked under the lift up seat back (to stop it sliding onto the floor). We were told not to leave it on the bracket as the constant travel vibration will loosen the bracket attached into the support behind the internal wall and possibly would have to re-locate it up or down, creating more drill holes. The 2nd was although the modern TVs are "solid state", apparently there are parts that can be damaged, like cracking circuit boards or loosening wires, and result in TV faults.

Supreme has a sticker on the wall stating that we must remove the TV whilst travelling.However if you were inside the van and saw how it travels I think you would be shocked at the movement.In answer to your question ,our TV goes under wifes pillow face down and the computer note book goes under mine ....simples ! Mine always lives on the bed under the pillow and doona while mobile. Main reason I do it is it takes the pressure of the TV bracket. Continuous vibration if TV if on bracket will eventually pull the bracket of the wall or similar.

I take the TV off the bracket and store it in the ORIGINAL packaging it came in .... because of what you say above.
If it could safely survive that journey then it is best back in its styrofoam and cardboard packing and then stand it in a cupboard under my wardrobe for travel in my van.
I have been carrying it this way for nearly eight years and have not had a problem with the TV.
I would not think it safe staying on the bracket on the wall - as said before, the movement it would suffer would be frightening.
By the way, I store the toaster, electric kettle, 240v fan and 240v heater and the 300W inverter in their original factory packaging as well - it they survive that way in transit to the store, they will/must be safe in the van.

I guess it depends on bracket ? On our RV it sits on wall all the time . BUT in RV you hear the bumps and rattles . The speeds and vibration I've seen some vans on uneven roads !! Smooth in 4X4 so MUST be ok !! .. Sheesh

Ha ha, 1st thing I do when a new gizmo is purchased is toss the box & packaging in the bin.
I don't know what you travel in nor roads travelled nor how you drive them but - our experience is toaster & kettle sit on a shelf under the sink, fan heater is tossed under the bed etc. The 150w inverter was screwed onto the boot wall.
We have never had anything move much less be damaged in travel (yet anyway).
To answer OP I do take the tv off the bracket and put it on the bed (face up as I have been advised to do) under a pillow.

I make a box out of MDF a similar size to the original cardboard box the TV came in.
I cover it in black motor trimming carpet on the outside and line the inside with some soft quilted fabric.
The box is made vertical and slides in between the wardrobe and the bed in our van.
It never slides around and is always out of the way if not being used.
Never had a problem with this system and it's also "out of the way" if the unwanted decide to enter and look around.

We have a strong steel TV bracket which locks to the wall even so we take our TV off the wall & put it in the cardboard box it came in packed in the original polystyrene. We then lay the box on its side down beside our bed placed so that it can't slide around. Common sense really. I once stayed in a van that was being moved around a caravan dealers yard, the amount of movement of EVERTHING on/in the van was incredible.

We have Velcro straps attached to the wall. when we travel the tv is folded into the wall, still on bracket, and then secured with Velcro. Worked well so far

Ours stays on the bracket which is backplate bolted to the end of an cupboard. Ocky straps hold it in place travelling and to date no issues.

Hey Westy. How old is your Supreme? Ours is the Executive model and didn't come with a TV - the Dealer supplied it and the fitted bracket as part of the haggling price. So we didn't get any sticker on the wall or TV like you did....

Our caravan came with a tv bracket which swings back into the wall and onto a rebated timber strip . The tv is then held secure with two webbed straps ,clasped together . This works well on any road condition .
We bought our van second hand in Brisbane and this was installed by Sound in Motion Brisbane .

mine is stored under Her pillow , face down , as th roof gets in th way of th shelf.
5 or 6 seconds is not much unplugging & putting it away . th aerial goes there too.

Ours is kept on the tv bracket with the bracket locked back against the wall with a bolt for 95% of the time. If we know we are going to travel down severely corrugated roads then we remove it and place it face down on the bed under the doona. Its travelled about 50,000km on the bracket with no problems at all.

Sounds to me, that if the Supporting bracket is well secured i.e. with a back plate on the other side of the wall, and the TV is also well cushioned and secured, then depending on the vans suspension and the road conditions its OK to leave the TV in place, however if one hasn't gone to the trouble of doing the above, then sitting the TV on the bed during travel is a safe bet.

TV sits face down on the bed under the doona, I believe the vibrations while travelling will do the bracket on the wall no favours if the TV was hanging on it and the plastic back of the TV is just waiting to crack and break. It takes less than 30 secs to take off the wall and put back on.
All it takes is one cattle grid or one large pothole that you don't see until it is too late and it will end in tears.

My old Jayco came before wall brackets & LCDs, so mine is mounted on a cupboard in the bedroom area.
I just made up a padded swivel bracket that the standard TV stand is screwed to.
No problems after many years. But I don't do dirt.
All my kitchen appliances sit on non slip matting on the kitchen cupboard tops & have never fallen off either.

Ours just stays on the bracket. We have a large foam rubber block that we simply squeeze in between the tv and the bench below. No straps, no brackets. It's been like it for 4 years, including some rough off road destinations. So far, so good. I think they're tougher than a lot of people might think.
