Recommendations for somewhere to go. We are in mandurah at the moment. Need to be in perth for 01 July so we have time to spare. Any recommendations on places to go looking at north Not coastal as we are going north coastal after our peryh visit.

Would think it would be pretty cold over there at the moment - but what about the Tin Horse Highway - haven't done it, but is on the agenda - think there are some other Highways like this as well. What about a trip out to Kalgoorlie - and north to Menzies, and out to Lake Ballard to see the statues in the lake - an amazing site - there is a campground out there,, but the caravan park in Menzies is terrific. The road out to the lake is about 30k tar 30k hard sandy.

Have you see Wave Rock and Hippo's Yawn? There are other rock formations a bit closer
Have you been down to Margaret River, Dunsborough, or more inland like Donnybrook or Pemberton?
North of Perth there is Yanchep Nation Park, or go East to York, Northam and Tooday circuit.

A short drive south of Mandurah is Lake Clifton. Have a look at the Thrombolites there before you leave the area. Like Jules said the Tin Horse Highway is something a bit different and there's a good free camp at Kulin with a nice amenities block with hot showers. You could have a good look around Fremantle before heading right into Perth and go out to Rottnest Island (go on cheap Tuesday for a good discount but you must book at the wharf). This time last year we were over there, boy does time fly. Have you gone for a drive to Pinjarra? Mundaring Weir just east of Perth was good. Nice picnic area and you can walk over the dam wall. There's plenty to see but I know we all enjoy different things.

I forgot to add we are travelling with a dog .
We have come up from the south so have been to bunbury.
Will look into the other places you mentioned.

The wheatbelt way is worth a week or so...... Couple great rocks as in Mt Marshall....Elacbutting......camp at both or use town CPs.
Great friendly towns.......Bencubbin, Mukinbudin, Beacon and others.

In Perth (an easy train ride from Mandurah) a visit to the Perth Mint is worthwhile followed by a lovely meal at Miss Mauds Swedish Hotel

Go to Kalgoorlie, explore the old gold towns of the region, then north to Leonora, Leinster and across to Sandstone, Mt Magnet, Yalgoo, Mullewa, back roads back to perth. Apart from Kalgoorlie, worth a stay at Leonora, Sandstone, Yalgoo.
If you don't mind a bit of backtracking, could go north to Cue for a look around too, and stay there.
Could even venture north from Mullewa and stay at Wooleen HS, near Murchison RH.

The best coral is Australia is at Coral Bay. Sorry Queensland but yours is so commercial its a rip off. All you need is some flippers and mask and do the Ningaloo drift. Doesnt matter if you cannot swim as the current just drifts you down the coast and you bail out after about 800 metres, walk up the beach and start again. And its free!! At Coral Bay there is a trip via Kayak out to the edge and you just drop over the edge as swim around. Just unbelieveable. Not that expensive. Sure you can go out in a glass bottom boat but.......

Its a shame you are going north by the coast as the wild flowers should be out late July /August, but only inland. If you can arrange it, maybe do a trip out from Geraldton to see them.

Leonora has the gift on this weekend. richest mile race in Australia, the best runners in the country will be there. plus a horse race meeting on the sat and sun. well worth the trip. a lot of free entertainment, and a gold coin donation at Gwalia house for breakfast, all you can eat. free entry every where. heats under lights sat night. well worth the trip

We are just north of Perth. You are more than welcome to stop in here and do day trips. Lancelin,Yanchep National park and town. Gingin,New Norcia. Cervantes and the Pinnacles if you havent already covered this area.

We decided to stay in mandurah for another week waiting on mail from home to arrive.
We are going to willowbrook farm. Looks like a nice place and we have a little person with us who i am sure will enjoy it.
