Our 'van is about 2 years old and the gas/240v water heater is a Swift product (most caravans have Swift ovens and cook tops)
It is a totally sealed unit so you cant check the gas flame (it has a s.s. tank so anode not required).
Recently it has started to leave sooty marks on the burnt gas vents and on the exterior wall above the vents. The marks wipe off, but anyone got ideas of how to sort it out?

Smoke is an indication of incomplete combustion.
Either too much gas (unlikely, but possible?) or not enough oxygen (more likely).
Cheers,
Peter

See this page. I doubt that they are sealed. I would say they have to be removed so they can be opened for service. That just means you need to contacr someone who can service it for you. They are an Oz product, there is a phone number on the link I gave you, you can ask them for assistance.

The jet burner could have a Spider and nest as similar happened to our Truman Unit the Spider built in the Venturi restricting Airflow therefore Not enough Air for Complete Combustion. Otherwise could be excessive gas Pressure to be inspected by Gas Plumber.
