I have been lurking around this site for the past few months and have read just about every post and article on the site and would like to thank everyone who has contributed. There is a wealth of great information out there and I am so grateful that I have been able to gain such valuable information about life on the road.
This forum has given me the incentive to put a date on my dream as I know that without having a departure date plan it just ain't gunna happen if I just continue to work work work (sorry for the offensive words).
I feel now is the right time to "come out from the shadows" and declare that I am a Grey Nomad in waiting. Through this forum I have seen the light and I so much want to be a part of it.
My name is Ray and I have been in the transport industry in WA for the past 25 plus years and unless anything changes, I will be a solo traveller. I don't have a rig yet, just a dream. Departure day is Saturday 4th July 2020 so I have 1500 more sleeps before I join you all on the road.
Many of my questions have already been answered but I am sure I will have many many more as my planning hits top gear.
I will be documenting my travels, including the planning stages so if you are interested you can read my blog at rayaroundoz.wordpress.com
Thanks again to everyone and I look forward to meeting many of you on the road.

Welcome to the gang Ray, enjoy here and out in the playground.
It's a good thing you came out from the "shadows" cos not much happens there. 4/7/20 seems a long way off but time goes that quick as you get older it will be here quicker than quick. Take it easy over there in "The Wild West" and,
Keep Safe on the roads.

Welcome from me as well, Ray. I joined this great forum two and a half years before I pulled stumps and hit the road and I learned so much in that time. It seemed like an invisible goal at the time, not even knowing what type of rig I would eventually settle on, but it all slowly came together ... too slowly at the time but now I look back and that time seems to have flown by. Hope the time doesn't drag by too slowly for you.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome Joe. I am sure the time will go quick enough. It does seem a long way off but I don't want to start wishing my life away. I've been patient this long, a bit longer wont hurt me.
