There is a good camp at the Carrathool Heritage Bridge Reserve ... mid-way between Hay and Darlington Point NSW on the Sturt Highway.
This site is not in CAMPS book but is at Google GPS -34.448233, 145.417017
There is a VERY basic drop-toilet, no dump point and no grey water restrictions.
The reserve (and main camping area) is on the west bank of the Murrumbidgee River, accessed from the south by crossing the narrow bridge and taking the track on the right.
There are some areas on the east bank accessed from a track on the right as you approach immediately south of the bridge. The track in that area is a bit basic and may cause some problems for big rigs if you want to get close to the river.
There is no posted time limit for staying at this large fairly open area.

Nearby is the Oolambeyan National Park. No camping available but a good place for a day trip to enjoy Australian rural heritage at the homestead and surrounding area.
Take your BBQ tucker and make use of the excellent picnic area with free gas BBQs (including one with small hotplates for boiling the billy) and tank water available.
I have also marked this down for we travel to Victoria come January 2017.

Just a stones throw away from the bridge is Pinkers Beach, right on the river, flushing toilets, free camp. A FAR better camp than near the bridge, we stayed for a week.
Oolambeyan National Park is great if you enjoy wildlife/birdlife like we do. If its been wet forget going there, the road in is treacherous. No-one around to help you if you get stuck & no
phone reception.
