Can anyone enlighten me on the quality of the Companion. BCF have a sale $400 off all Companion at the moment. Wondering what they are like. Have googled and read a few reviews but looking for personal experiences now.

Hi all;
I used to repair the campanion 2 way compresser fridges that were localy sold. Not too many problems and parts were not a problem. They use the chinese version of the danfrost compresser and seem value for the money. Had one in for repair for the owner? and he had managed to plug 240 Volt mains into the 12 Volt DC input socket and had blown up the power suply, the compresser controler and the electronic thermostate. Once ordered and parts replaced,that fridge whent like a new one. Others had power supply issues due to the owners using cheap generators to power the fridge, and have had the same issues with televisions also used off cheap generaters !!Overall good little fridges , well made and if looked after, hopefully will last a fair while.
Why the mistaken 12 volts input for the 240 Volt input........The manufactures have used a figure 8 stile socket for the 12 Volt DC input. This plug is also used on small portable cassette cd radio's etc for the 240 Volt input and not hard to get confused. One to be warery of.

Thanks Aus-Kiwi. Good information. Don't have generator. Only batteries and solar panels which will do the job.

Same size in an Engel I think was $1899.
Now to get rid of the old fridge that's givene such a headache from the day I bought the van.
