Thanks Terry and Jim for the follow up. Good to hear it wasn't a violent attack by others on campers - sad that two lives lost through the scourge of drugs. Reckon its going to be Australias biggest problem in a few years time - more than the budget, child care, aged care etc etc.
We will end up with 100s of 1000s of drug addicted people who inflict violence on others, die through bad drugs or don't contribute to the monetary income of the country. We are long term sitting on a life style block. Next door (about 2 km away thank god) we have a large shed used as a house which is occupied by ice users. They steal cars and take the motors out which go into a shipping container and sent to China. The cars are then picked up by a scrap metal dealer who recycles them. The amazing thing is the local cops know about it and do nothing!
The leasee of the property used to be a FIFO sparkie with a wife and 3 kids. He got so violent, she had him removed and now this 40s man has nothing except ice for his pleasure

Yes unfortunately was a guy who worked with us up until 12 months ago. Was a good guy and worker saving to buy a house until he got tangled up with this partner who was addicted gambler and drug user. Gambled away $30,000 in a few months and got him onto the drugs and the change in him was unbelievable, became unreliable and was continually trying to borrow money off his workmates. Company offered him councelling which I sat in on but he only got worse. Would just disappear from work at anytime and not show up for days. Unfortuantly the company had to let him go and he was reportedly seen living in his car in various camps around the Townsville region.
Such a shame, haven't heard what drugs were involved but there is a ice epidemic in the north as well as in most areas now and it only looks like its going to get worse.

Ice, the drug, is the scourge of this nation. I know some who have become addicted, their lives, and their nature, change dramatically, for the worse. A couple of these are young men still in their teens.
You CAN get off it, but you have to want to, for yourself. It can be done.
Our government should be doing a lot more to stop the importation and distribution of ice, instead of spending so much of our money persecuting cannabis users, who, mostly live full lives, very happily

I hear you Jules and I agree with you but look at the uproar when the two drug pushers were executed in Bali, even the woman minister (can't remember her name) was in tears.

Hello everyone
I agree that there is no lower form of life, than a drug dealer.
In my opinion, one way to help the druggies, is to hang their suppliers.
If the druggie is also a supplier, then they will just have to face the consequences.
I realise that this is a harsh statement, but, when we have a bad apple in the barrel, if we do not remove it, all the apples become bad

I will second the motion by Tony
we need harsh penalties for such harsh deeds as making or dealing these deadly chemical coktails

Perhaps we could have executions in the town square.
That would really show how we have evolved as a society.

That 'war on drugs' thing has been going on for a long time now and is due for a rethink. Let's get out there and hammer them is not working.

You'll find welfare and drug use go hand in hand also .. Drug testing should be bought in . I had to at work .. Not that it was a problem for me .. Until I took tremadole for my RC shoulder pain ..
