Does anyone know the location of the external regulator for the alternator on a Toyota coaster bus model RB20 built 1986, have searched high and low with no success, it's got a 22R petrol engine.

As Aus-Kiwi says it's probably internal....the Coaster is 30 years old and probably has had it's old alternator replaced with a newer unit.
Good Luck
ps...the number of wires on the back of the alt should give you an idea - newer ones with internal regs usually on have 2 wires (1 thick 1 thinner) whereas old ones will have 4.

Gave up looking, it's probably internal reg ,if so, why has it worked for the last 6 years, light working ok, the wholesaler said it should be external , ended up fitting a RE55 reg and pulled out the dash bulb and fitted a plug in voltmeter to the cig lighter, solved.
