Hi heater, installed, fired up straight away, but only runs flat out, even with temp set at 21 temp in van got to 30 but still kept running full bore. Have now run it twice for up to an hour, pulled fuse, re start from scratch but still only runs flat out. Any ideas please as to why it won't go into slow mode ?

Check that the heater is clear of all blockages, dust, and has plenty of air movement.
We had issues with our 5 year old unit, only to find we needed to vacuum it more often.

Did it ever work properly? Your piece "Hi heater, installed, fired up straight away," seems to indicate that this is a new installation. If so then check the thermostat wiring. The heat sensor in my heater is in the return air duct. If yours is the same then check that connection.

Following PeterD's comment, do you, in fact, have the return air hose connected from the van outlet to the air inlet side of the heater?
Other than that, I would suggest buying bathers and sunnies for use this winter.

Hi, yes new unit, and only fired up twice, ran for an hour flat out. Got to about 30 plus before I switched it off, ( set on 21) waited for it to cool down completely, pulled fuse ( hoping it would re-set ? ) Had to run air con to get van cool enough before it would fire up again, all good fired up straight away when temp dropped, but then still runs flat out. The air intake is straight into the unit from inside the van so sucking in warm - hot air, all wired up correctly, I'm leaning towards faulty air intake temp sensor which is meant to be on the inlet side, so will check that out.
The sensor I think must be sort of working because it won't fire up if the room temp is higher than the temp set on the control??
So besides bathers ( not a good look)
I am hoping not to have to take it to a caravan installer, they quoted starting at over a $1,000.00 to install. It took 1 man 4 hours and that's doing it for the first time.

I haven't had anything to do with this unit but I fitted a Belief heater that is of the same principle.
My heater had 2 operating modes...
1. by setting optimal temperature whereby the room should get to that temp then the heater turns off until the temp drops to a certain level. Due to the high current draw on start-up this, to me wasn't ideal.
2. by setting power output. For this I would run at high power until the van warmed then turn down to Min which would maintain that temp. Less power consumption as the only draw was the fan.
Make sure yours (if it operates the same way) is not on Power setting as it will keep heating.

Our Planer has a variable thermostat controlled setting as well as a continuous setting. An extra push button activates continuous mode.

Thanks one and all, have booked into agent in two weeks time, gives me two weeks to try and figure it out. Hopefully as simple as pressing the button , will have to google it some more.

Hi Peter, I don't know wether it will be covered or not, I finally found a site that explains the print out on the control panel. It is a faulty temp sensor. The agent says it should be covered under warranty but like you I'll believe it when it happens. At this stage I'm waiting to hear back from the supplier, I sent a photo of the screen showing the fault and have asked them whether they want to supply a new sensor under warranty or wait for their agents report.
Will start a new post when happens to let all know ( not expecting this to be a quick fix)
