OK, I know a lot don't like generators, but here's a question I haven't seen answered anywhere else. When using your generator do you keep it on the slide or do you take it off the slide and place it on the ground to run? My simple thoughts are that if its on the slide it will vibrate through the van and maybe loosen the slides attachment screws. On the other hand, lifting 30k on and off can get fairly onerous. Security cable would be attached either way.

I believe on the ground near your door would be best.
Lifting it in and out would be a challenge, with a bit of luck once or twice a year would be nice.

Ours travels in the back of the car under the canopy, if we have to use it we put it on a board, on the ground.

When we use our gennie, I have to take it our of our gennie box on the back of the van.
I always place the gennie on a mat on top of a square piece of plywood so no dust can be generated into the unit.
We usually camp away from other people so we place the gennie usually in the bush so as not to disturb others.
Must admit we do not use it as much now we have solar panels on the roof of the van.
But would not free camp with out one.
We also run the washing machine and a/c from the gennie.
