Have 4.5ton Iveco motorhome and has 335kg more weight on drivers side and after 3 years now sagging on divers side.
Seeking thoughts on correcting the situation. 1. would air bags be an option without beefing up leaf springs 2. Just beef up leaf springs up both on both sides and forget about the air bags.
Thanks

suggest you get some free advice from a suspension company - visit a couple to make sure theyre not going to try and rip you off.

In my experience the easiest and probably the cheapest is to get your springs reset on drivers side OR buy new ones for drivers side.
Easy enough to do if you go the guys who physically reset the springs.

Get the suspension sorted first .. Check bushes etc . As said reset & add extra leaf's .. Talk to suspension specialist . I find air bags on heavy duty trucks give more supple ride .. Fitted CORRECTLY !!

Gday...
I am sure the OP's question is obvious to those who know these things so I do apologise for what is quite probably a couple of stupid questions from one who does not understand the question above.
However, firstly, 335Kg is a fairly exact number - how was that determined as "more weight" on the driver's side ... obviously that is stating what is that much more weight than on the passenger's side.
Secondly, what would normally place such a large weight only on one side of a vehicle - and is that normal?
Cheers - John

I suggest that many/most RVs are heavier on the kitchen side than the other side. Very few people know because the don't weigh them. I weighed the OKA after it was finished and loaded. It was 180kg heavier on the drivers side. I re packed everything in the numerous outside storage boxes and I still use fuel and water in an order to correct the imbalance as we travel.
Cheers, Peter

Thars quite a bit of difference . I can see in time why suspension sags . Needs correcting with different Spring rates or air suspension ?

You pretty much answered you own question. Definitely add an extra leaf. But you also need to have your springs resett. You need to tell the spring works what you require. They will just change the tension on the right side. It will then sit perfect. I used to be a spring maker some 30 years ago.

Messing with springs will simply camouflage the problem.
Steering and braking will remain seriously compromised.
The load needs to be redistributed to improve the ballance.

Peter

Many motorhomes these days have full wall slideouts that are creating a weight imbalance.
I can see this problem becoming more common.

If suspension is set to weight . It doesn't change much ? As said its engineered that way .. Some will say it's fine then . Like they spend billions developing these things . I say add more Spring to heavy side . We had same issue on out work trucks with wire drums under EPV. Tray . Even though they have MASSIVE sway bar . The heavy side needed extra Spring assistance . Keep in this weight issue when carrying extra weight as in water tanks etc .

I am amazed a motorhome has been built without the weight distribution being designed to be evenly distributed! was it built and hope for the best? a tank in the wrong place? get the weight right then no problem, fit new equal suspension. Can all be calculated on a PC before any construction, exception would be homebuilt maybe?

Thanks all for your comments, had rear springs reset and 1 extra leaf on each side fitted. Vehicle now level and no noticeable change to the ride.
Cost was just under $800
