Looking for a 12v Air Compressor that will pump up my Motorhome tyres to 80psi. Plenty on ebay referring to 4wd's , not sure if they would handle truck tyres.

I bought an Aldi special that does 55psi easily for us. Just had a look at the box which states
Maximum working pressure 150psi
Maximum restart pressure 90psi.
I don't intend to try to verify those stats and I would be surprised if Aldi still have stock. The brand on the box is Auto XS. I am pretty sure that is just an Aldi name, and I can't see any address, phone number or website, but the same product is probably available on the net with several names on it. Maybe worth using eBay option to ask a question of the vendor (they might be able to find someone with enough English language skills to reply). Good luck.

Plenty of compressors out there that will pump to 100/150Psi. Big problem is the air volume required for larger higher pressure tyres, The compressor I have needs to pump the MH tyres to 90 psi. It will do the job but takes an age and gets very hot. It is a double Cylinder version and was bought from a TJM branch on special at $150.
It would be a much better prospect if it had a reservoir to be able to handle the bigger volume of air required but the you sacrifice compactness with a much bigger unit. Always a compromise.

Size and weight is the issue.. If it's for emergency ? 50-60 lb will get you out of trouble .. Better still a hand pump and enjoy the exercise ? No I didn't think you'd like that ? Lol

My advise is not to waste your money on the normal "4WD" stuff.
The cheapest solution (if you have the space available) is to buy a 240V compressor. I carried one in the OKA for a number of years that I ran from a top quality 1300W inverter. It was 1.5HP and cost under $100.
I subsequently changed it to a BOSS 12V one to save some space. It is very good, but it is not as fast as the 240V one.
The only problem with smaller 12V compressors is that they may be able to pump to a high pressure but their volumes (liters per minute) are very low. This means they can take a while to pump up your tyres, but more importantly, if you have to do a flat repair and the tyre has popped its bead off the rim, you'll never get it back on the rim with a low volume compressor. You need lots of air and fast to do that.
If you are considering serious off road stuff where that repair situation may occur multiple times, get yourself one of these tidy little 230V AC units and make sure you have a large enough inverter to power it.

For most of us the time taken to pump up the tyre is not so important. This isn't a F1 race. Use the break to smell the air, put the billy on and have a cuppa, relaaaaaaax.
I guess it depends on what you want from your compressor. There are lots of very suitable little compressors out there if you are just concerned with raising the pressure after having lowered them for dirt/sand etc.
To pop the bead back on to a tubeless rim, it is not the horse power of the compressor that is going to help you, it is the delivery of a large volume of air VERY quickly that is required. To do that you need a storage tank that can deliver that large volume in a couple of seconds.
I own one of the Stanley units and it only has a 5 liter tank, but if I wait approx two minutes for the compressor to auto shut off with the tank pressure dialed up to the maximum 115PSI, I can dump that entire tank in about 10 seconds and that fast flow of a large volume pops those beads on real simple.
Of course you could always just carry a couple of inner tubes.

I have one of these style for top ups. It'll pump up a flat to 45psi in about a minute.
.... but if I'm going offroad rock-hopping I take the Stanley as it is really easy to pop a tyre off the rim when you go slow speed bouncing over rocks.
Check out these BitDeals guys. Chinese imports. Great Solar supplier because they all come from China these days, but can't offer any comments on their compressors except they seem quite inexpensive like their solar panels are.
There is a VERY big difference between pumping up a car tyre to 60psi and a truck tyre to 80psi.
Many small compressors can not run continuously without overheating and are simply not capable, despite their advertising.

Yep the conpressors for floaties etc are too small !! Mine is the twin compressor unit with about 5 litre tank . It's about the right size for storage for us . The other old bus has air over hydro brakes . It runs at 120 lb. we just use a valve and fitting off the what was used on door opener when it was a bus . Btw air gets hot when compressed anyway .,

It is only 0.5HP.

That is smaller than the 12V Boss I am using which is 3/4HP.
I suggest you need t least 1HP and 1.5 would be better, and there will be no problem to run from the generator.
