I'm now aged 72 years, recent widower, past health issues caused us not to drive as much as we once did. My ever changing health circumstances are currently freeing up a bit more time for me, in a few more months I am hoping for a mostly health-issues free calendar so I can look forward to renewing the road-trip experience as much as I once did. There's so many great drives that it seems a shame to not just go and enjoy them.
I have been a keen genealogist for many years, gradually putting the bits & pieces together, recently completed my Maternal family tree, I had been stuck without Birth Certificate for my Grandfather, not a lot of info known except name. I did have their Marriage Cert. & his Death Cert. but the parents names on both documents led me astray for years, until I was given some help recently and his Birth Certificate, finally.
This all led up to my wish to visit the towns, areas, parishes of The Darling Downs, Queensland where my Great Grandparents, Grandparents and their children lived from the last half of the 19th century onwards. So my planned three week camping, road-trip will happen probably in July, soon as possible after my left knee replacement in late April has healed and I am okayed for walking.
Keep your eye out for the old bloke in a black Hyundai Tucson with the Yellow Labrador and a big grin
