We have a 12 volt (cigarette plug type) fan, up until recently we didn't have a problem.
About a month ago when we started to use the fan it completely destroyed our TV reception Same thing happened when plugged into 240 through a transformer.
WE have no problems when using Sat TV, just the antenna WE have a new type Wynguard antenna.
So far I have tried a filter on the antenna lead and those ring things on the power leads Nothing helped.
I am thinking new fan but would like to be sure first, maybe it has something to do with antenna.
Would appreciate some thought thanks

Our cheap pure sine wave inverter affects our Sphere tv and our Panasonic PVR. Definitely looking at VAST very soon.

Gday...
I am DEFINITELY not 'electricity clever' ... in fact quite the opposite
However, I never used to watch TV except when on 240v - and that was not very often. However, some years ago, when I first began using my TV on 12V I found that if I turned on the light over the sink (then a halogen globe and later a LED one) near the TV while the TV was operating, either the sound would disappear completely - or sometimes the picture would degrade.
When I checked with an auto elec he checked it out and advised that -
a) the original wire from the battery servicing the 12v socket that came with the van (for TV) and the light over the sink was too small;
b) and if TV and light were on simultaneously there was insufficient current to drive both.
The solution was to run a heavier wire directly from the battery (with inline fuse) to a new, separate 12v socket on the wall for the TV.
Outcome - problem solved ... I have not had any problems since.
Perhaps that is the source of your problem but I would wait for the 'electricity gurus' to respond before you rush out and get another wire/socket installed.
Cheers - John

Thanks for that. It could be the problem, hope not, the leads are all behind the walls and it would be a big job
Gives me a thought tho, there is a big stack of wires under the van I can check out. Same thing happens in both cigarette sockets and one is on 6 mil wire direct to the battery. Maybe it is the lead to the tv socket and booster.

Gday...
There was no need to access any wiring within the walls.
I selected a position on the wall near the TV and then the cable was brought from the battery, under the van, up through inside a cupboard, through the bench close to the wall and the socket installed there.
Looks fairly 'standard' and definitely was not a big problem ... or a lengthy job.
Cheers - John

I had the same problem when the shower fan was turned on, no signal to tv
new van will have a dedicated wire to tv, so hope that will sort it out

My outlet for the 12v TV, and amplifier for the antenna are in the overhead cupboard above the sink.
In some areas where the TV signal is marginal I can have intermittent problems with the TV
After a long time I worked out if the cupboard door were open the TV was good.
Do not ask my why because I can not figure it out
But I know it works

I have the Same Problem with my TV. I have found the LED Lights are the Problem. apparently its the little switchmode Transformers in the LED's that adjust the Voltage to be correct for the LED that produce a signal that interferes with TV Antenna signals. When I switch the LED's off Bingo TV works fine. I guess that a any appliance may have a Switchmode Transformer may be an Issue.
Hope it Helps.

Or use 12V single voltage LED inserts, not multi voltage led inserts.
I need some input please.
