The cheapest that I know of near Darwin, is at Berrimah, on the Sturt Highway - place called Robbie Robbins Reserve - it is a polo grounds, coming in from the South look for the Stratco stor, it is in that street, beside a prison. Power and water, as well as unpowered ( it was $35 for power when we were there in 2014, and $25 no power. Showers, toilets and a washing machine.

We spent two weeks in Darwin and stayed at Howard Springs caravan park, it is a Big 4 park but one of the cheapest parks in Darwin we found it to be a friendly well maintained park and although its about 20 kilometers from Darwin there is an expressway all the way to the city, the park is about 5 kilometers from Palmeston which is a large shopping centre where you can get what ever you want.
The time you are planning to be in Darwin is peak season and it can be next to impossible to get a site so suggest you book your sight soon if not tomorrow. A great place for a meal is the motor boat club where you can enjoy a great meal at good prices and watch the sunset over the water a spectacular sight.

Howard Springs, as above. A fairly rural type of setting. Nice pool.
Closer in - Hidden Valley Tourist Park. Large, modern. On a road that cuts between the Stuart Highway and the Tiger Brennan Drive, which gives a fast run to the city without the traffic lights of the highway. Very quick run to city centre etc from here. If the airforce is playing war games may get some plane noise at times - but so will most of Darwin!

We enjoyed Howard Springs when we were there a couple of years ago.
