I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you research mozzie repellant you'll find that most home made or so called natural repellents fail nearly all tests - you are best sticking to the gold standards DEET or Picaridin. These have been extensively tested and found to be very effective as well as safe. Given the number of possible diseases that you can pick up from mozzies I for one would not risk anything unproven and highly unlikely to to work.

Had a neighbour that mixed citronella oil with eucalyptus oil think it was apparently worked ok ! and less toxic than spraying yourself continuously with the bought chemicals .. ... but I'm sure there is a grey nomad on this site that has some ideas I do know that in many cases a lot of the old remedies work for many things not only insect bites .. people managed for years without todays chemicals
Anyway I'm open to any suggestions .
thanks ger

I find citronella quite effective both in oil and candle forms. What I really prefer when sleeping is the mosquito net. Such bliss to hear them buzzing around knowing they can't get to you.
