We are new members and this is our first post. Late in June we are beginning our 3 month journey starting from Canberra and heading north through Queensland, NT to make our way down the WA coast and back across the Nullarbor.
Our (so far) small convoy consists of myself (Dave) and my wife (Jackie) in one caravan and a very good friend of ours (Glenn) in his caravan. We did have 2 other couples interested but they pulled out. We are in our 50's and very easy going. We do have a loose itinerary but it is only for some sort of idea of how long, where etc. that we are going. Nothing is set in concrete so we are very flexible except that the main theme of the trip is to experience WA.
Glenn and I are keen fishermen and photographers so we will be spending a bit of time wetting a line. We all enjoy a beer or wine at dinner time... OK a few beers is a little more accurate. Jackie is an excellent cook and very easy to get on with (she puts up with me after all).
If you are interested, have a good sense of humour, easy going, and don't take life too seriously then maybe you will fit in with us? If not, then we will just go our separate ways.
Due to the long distances there will be some free camping involved but we will be staying in parks wherever possible. Either way is good for us. We prefer to travel in a group for company.

Groups travelling nose to tail in company often induce road rage in those who want to travel faster than the group.

We and another couple are leaving QLD at the end of April (if the rain has stopped) but realistically we don't expect to spend more than a week or so together on the complete cycle. We accept that we will have different interests, budgets and priorities. We don't want to be held up or to hold up others but know we will enjoy those days we have together.
I suspect the more there are in a convoy, the greater the organizational problems.
Whatever happens, I hope you really enjoy yourselves (and catch some fish)

We did 6 weeks in Tassie with 4 vans and had no problems. Well spaced and if we separated, we just met up at the agreed town/coffee shop. This trip will be a little different given the distances bit we were all in touch via CB.

Too short a trip or too soon? Either way, we are flexible and if you wish to travel with us for even part of the journey, you are welcome.
