Just crossed East to West yesterday and today and by golly it's wet and super muddy in the rest areas. We could not find a suitable free camp till Baxter rest area just past Caiguna heading West., which is partially bitumen.
Where truckies had pulled in and out of various rest areas was trails of gooey red mud which then spatters everywhere. If maybe contemplating a crossing, leave it a few days to dry out, especially the Eastern end from the border to Ceduna.
A couple of good bitumen bays near Yalata but not far enough out for us heading West. Even the Shelly beach CP in Ceduna was turning into a quagmire when we left Sunday morning.

Sounds like a great experience. You don't often get to see the Nullabor wet
