We are travelling from Adelaide to the Grampians in April. Looking for either a free or low fee place to stay overnight on route
. Maybe Dimboola or Nhill. Any suggestions please.

Hi - you could check out the "budget/free campsites" sub forum on this forum - I seem to remember a RV park or free camp in Nhill.
Have you looked at the Camps Australia Wide book? (Issue 8 is the current one) - or on Wikicamps?
Good luck - enjoy the Grampians.

I parked my bum at Dimboola for a week over Easter a couple of years ago. I couldn't be bothered with the d!ckheads on the road all rushing to have a good time.
Nice park with new amenities (at the time, 2 years ago) and very clean. Top spot to use as a base for exploring the Grampians, Horsham area and Mt Arapiles.
Good spot to put in a kayak if you have one.

Nhill has a very welcoming, cheap & cheerful CP (seniors discount).

Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre.
Excellent spot, free, dog friendly, 72 hour stay.
