Can anyone tell me how you manage when travelling?
I really don't want to get trapped in caravan parks just for 240 volt power?

Mine runs on 12 volts so direct from battery OR from 300 watt inverter. There are several good threads on CPAPs on this forum. I wull see if ( can find a couple.

If you haven't brought a machine yet , There are some that run on 12 volt . Mine is a resmed that doesn't run on 12volt I think it could be 19 volts , How I got around was a 300 w inverter plug into the 12volt socket inside the caravan , all good but don't use the humidifier on 12 volt to bigger draw .

I have a Philips Respironics that runs off 12 volts. When you are organising for the machine specify that it will run of 123 volts, as some brands have models that will.

I haven't purchased yet, and I want to be sure I cover all bases because they are so expensive.
Are there any other areas of advice, tips or tricks you have for me?

So much cheaper to buy from the US. I got mine for free due to my disability pension, but I buy all my consumables from the US. from cpap.com

I would be careful buying online has I find the people that I brought nine from give me much needed advice and read the SD card from time to time to check if it run ing on the right setting and will reset if required . I think good service is always worth a little more has had to get service from online USA .

Rip n Rosie: we run two CPAP's, (disabled daughter travels with us) resmed s9's, using their 12v/24v converters, have a 160ah lifepo4 house battery and 230w solar works fine free camping.Using one machine would use about 50 ah per night with humidifier, lot less without so with a decent battery no worries for you. The resmed s9 draw 6.5amp/12v with humidifier, not sure without humidifier but at least half that.

I read the chip myself from software I found on a great Sleep Apnea forum, AND like this forum is more helpful than my "sleep doctor".

Interesting in reading the chip...what software do you use, and how often?
Do I have to have the machine set to allow me to do this?
I asked the technician at the clinic and she said " Oh we don't like you to do that" ..............like that will stop me!

I have found that the Sleep Apnea circle of professionals is quite secretive and don't want you to know too much. I reckon they think they are above us "sufferers". I read the instruction booklet to my machine and can change any settings I desire. I have had type 1 diabetes since 1970 and manage that with help from my GP. I am with you Rosie, ..like that will stop me!

There is no way on earth I am leaving the management of either my diabetes to my SA to a technician I see annually !! Bloody patronising that they expect anyone to !!
It really amazes me that there is virtually no education out there for SA..... just the tech saying "Go home with this, plug it in and get used to it, and make another appointment with reception."

Rosie, I usually read mine daily, although I can get my AHI for 1, 7, and 30 day averages from the machine display. The chip gives a lot of info that I don't really understand yet BUT on that forum are some very knowledgeable sufferers including Doctors. My pretty useless sleep doctor retired at Christmas and I am looking forward to his replacement being more amenable to discussion.
Attached info from today's reading. I want to know more about difference of CA OA & H in the pie chart.
