Hi All, I am looking for a warm area to camp (with van) during the colder months. In a caravan park and under $30 for a powered site from May to September. Any ideas would be appreciated .......... thanks
I will be south of Sydney not sure where, don't want to go into Queensland, lets say northern NSW somewhere inland ? coast maybe to expensive ?

Plenty of inland areas that will be warm during the day - but most will be cold at night!
Are you looking for an area that offers things to do - like walks, drives etc - or just somewhere to camp and stay round your camp?

If you are physically able, why don't you have a look at some caretakers jobs in the areas you are looking at. Might be an option and accommodation can be free.

We will do our best to keep it green for you Dougwe. Just had a nice storm roll through here, first in a long time with more to follow. Even paradise needs rain occasionally.

My choice would be Moree.
The caravan park on the left heading north as you come into town just of the highway. It is near the airport, small amount of planes.
It is very clean well serviced with warm mineral pools at differant temps. Has some deals on rates.
The hotel near has great lunch time specials for a treat around $8 with a drink.
We were there in June, t shirt and shorts for near a week.
Promised ourselfs when ever travelling near here going or coming home we would take time to recoup from our wandering.

G'day wheels
I totally agree with Radar we have stayed in the same park and for three weeks last time, it is a well maintained and friendly park the thermal pools are great but don't spend too long in the hottest one, all pools have the temperature displayed and are very clean if your avitar is your van and tug it would be worth checking availability of sites as some are a bit small.

We too love Moree, but it does get busy in the winter and they probably charge well as its their 'high' season. We found the sites a bit small/cramped for our 23' van

Lightning Ridge has the Crocodile Caravan Park pretty hard to beat in Winter, Hot Bore bath 1 klm, Great RSL cheap meals, lots to see and do. crocodilecaravanpark.com.au/ they do tailor rates for longer stayers give Lionel or Deb a ring.
Leisure World at Walgett. May still allow caravans haven't been there for years - The resort was originally built by my parents in the 60's.
Also; at Collarenebri they have a free camp at the hot bore baths nice place very friendly town - Do NOT leave valuables lying around there are some light fingered youths around.
Moree also has a hot bore baths (as mentioned by Radar above).
Bourke at Kidman's Camp absolutely the best caravan Park around the Darling, Barwon, Namoi area.
All these towns has fantastic fishing - Yellowbelly, a lot of carp (But they're fun) many people like them to eat (not me), always they chance of a 250 Kg Cod. One recently caught at Walgett.

Hi Radar
You mentioned that Moree would be your choice over the winter months, I have checked out Moree and I could see why nomads would like the town. The only thing that worries me is the aboriginal content at Moree, should I be concerned

The Aborignal Families were happy for us to stay and I did not bother them.
The owners of the CP have made the park reasonablly safe without going overboard.
We did enjoy our time there and loooking forward to our chance of staying again.
