We are departing for our trip around australia with our 3 yr old and a dog and cat
Any hint and tips for traveling with kids.
Our plan is to free camp as much as possible due to dog but stay in cp when we need facilities. 2 or 3 nights a week.

Go for it!
From what I have seen so far out here in the playground your 3 year old will be better educated than most kids. I have met a few families travelling this great playground and the kids seem to have a wealth if knowledge and mostly, extremely polite and friendly.
As for the dog and cat, just make sure they are not allowed to roam around other camp sites and leave deposits around. It becomes very annoying for your neighbours.
Have a great time out here and keep safe.

My brother did the big lap with 2 children and a dog back in the early 90's. The dog sadly is no more but the kids then aged 7 & 5 still talk about the things they did. They were home schooled on the road and when they went back to school were more advanced than their class mates.
They only travelled 3-4 hours a day and had plenty of time for school and fun. The kids were in charge of picking camp sites for the day (camps book). They often stayed at local gun clubs (family are all shooters) and used their power and water.
Have fun out there.
