Just had my 4.2TD Maverick injector pump rebuilt at Cessnock Diesel service and couldn't be happier with the job and price
Remove
Rebuild
Replace and tune
Total $1600.65
Going like new again.
Had other quotes from $2500 to $3200.

IP,s just don't quit suddenly like a battery dying. And the type of motor (ie ZD30 or TD42) could give those on here better idea of what to look for.
For a start I would be looking at filters....breather hole at tank etc etc. I find it really hard to believe that an IP can die suddenly this quick. Has it been getting hard to start slowly over time?
Methinks there are more symptoms lurking here hey. Also check out the Patrol forum too.......more info on there than you can poke a stick at
Cheers Keith

Sounds more like a fuel problem to stop so suddenly, like a spill control valve or cut off valve, or it's driver.

If its one of these pumps? Yes it will just stop & not re start. These have a small computer in them & the driver for the spool solenoid fails. If it has they are repairable.
I had a similar problem with a customers Nissan Patrol a few years back.
He drove into the local IGA car park, went in and did the shopping and when he came out the Nissan wouldn't start.
I went over to check it out and checked fuel and electrics etc.
That's when I noticed the small red button that fits in the bottom of the ignition key had fallen out.
His wife had a spare in her handbag, so tried it and bingo it started. I tried his key with the piece out of it and no go.
Just a thought mate. All the best and $4400 sounds too much for that injector pump job.
Cheers

$4400 is a common price as they will replace the injectors as well as a new pump.

Pay to google injector pump issues or repaires of your model ? I did with my GM diesel . Two issue came up. A small low pressure pump can fail which feeds to injector pump causing hard starts . It can run .. The other is basically what said above . Some have computer glued to pump as heat sink and the plays up from heat sink from motor under bonnet when turned off, going shopping etc so I purchased a pump and computer with long loom and heat sink which can be installed in open air out of engine bay .. Yes Nissans don't have a good rep durability wise! It seems fuel supply or quality prone ., 70 to 120 klmrs . Which seems like s service issue ? Filters etc ?

I have had experience with fuel pumps from my farming days,
#1 check your fuel,is it summer or winter fuel
#2 check fuel filters and change them
#3 always get a couple of quotes for repairs.
