It's a pity that the ferry fares to Tazzie are so expensive as a lot of the areas that are being so badly impacted by these wild fires depend on tourism for their communities survival.
We also need to spare a thought for the volunteers who are fighting all these fires they don't have the level of fire fighting equipment or the number of members that their mainland counter parts do, they are working long hours in a very stressful environment and these fires are no where near out.
These Volunteers are true Hero's who are demonstrating what being an Auzzie is all about in a time of crisis, I believe each and every one of them deserves a medal for outstanding commitment, dedication and bravery, I for one salute them all.

its good to see that the Tasmanian Govt called for staff from mainland States and accepted NZ's offer of crew.
Unfortunately in WA with our last two major fires, these offers were declined with terrible outcomes

I use this one - http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colGMapBushfires - It's an interactive map with the info that Jim's link on it shown in the position it is in Tas.

Only on the west coast, a the moment Desert Dweller. Though the east coast is getting a lot of rain. Plenty left to see, and the bush will regenerate in time.
We hope any Grey Nomads travelling through Tasmania at the present time, remain safe, and are well away from these fires.
