Where is Warners Bay - ok NSW - but what other towns are nearby, maybe get a bit better response. Happy travels.

Good evening, In response to Jules 47 I have just checked out some maps to find out where Warners Bay sits. It has a post code of 2281 and there is a suburb not too far away called Lakelands which is a residential suburb of Lake Macquarie.
If I find a free camp for overnight I will let Johnny know.
Stay safe all

Johnny, welcome to the group. If you're going to continue camping and you have a smart phone or an apple or other system running windows 8 or 10 then I suggest you get the wikicamps app. The app shows a free camp at Rathmines which appear to be pretty close to Warners Bay, its in the carpark below the bowling Club. GPS -33.040213, 151.596927

Johnny I used to live 6kms from Morisett on the western shore of Lake Maquarie at Sunshine. There is a nice overnight spot at Myuna Bay on the Wangi Wangi road about 15kms from Morisett and an easy drive to Warners Bay. Unfortunately Idon't have my camps book to hand but I'm sure it will be in there.
Hope this helps

On the road between Valentine & Warners Bay I have seen many free camp in car park near the skateboard ramp area. Have also had a night or two there myself - not been asked to move on!

I think you may find that Lake Macquarie council has clamped down on illegal camping. The 24hr rest area at Myuna Bay was being abused with rubbish strewn every where & tent campers pitching on the reserve and using the surrounding scrub as toilet facilities. The large majority were doing the right thing ( I know this because I walk the area almost daily). Now the stopover has been sign posted the only place that can be used is in the amenities area beside the main road, the popular site along the gravel no through road is now out of bounds to all overnight stopovers. The Rathmines stopover is still being used as far as I know.

Thanks Frier, stayed there over night last night, but not on the cindered road area ( no through road ) which bans overnight camping.
