I am curious to know if many Grey Nomads have caught up with other Grey Nomads through this web site. I only joined about 6 months ago and have had a fair to middelin reception. We have touched base with GarrnLyn over the last week. Garry and I have had a couple of cans, and the girls have had multiple games of Dominoes and we have all struck a very nice and enjoyable relationship which I suspect will grow, (If I can keep going after 76). Now I think, if others have touched base with other couples, there could be some very interesting experiences out there, come on people entertain us.
If I am being a naughty little boy tell me, I can take it.

Simmons, we have met a lot of GN members, in fact my partner and I met through the site, which many know about, apparently I stalked him half way around the country!! Well, that's his story.
We met at least 90 at Greens Lake in Victoria, over one summer. Had about 25for Christmas lunch, that time. Some members have become our very good friends, we will often travel together, or meet up somewhere..
We have been in WA for the past few months, and have met more at the get together in Seabird. Put a note in the Get togethers, invite people who are going through your town to contact (no phone no,. In public forum, use private message) have a coffee or whatever.
So, yes you can meet other members, just let them know where you are.

Simmo, when I joined the grey nomads about 2009 I think it was, very few had met other grey nomads at all. Slowly and months apart we might have met one or two.
Until the day I found Greens Lake, with the help of Jonathan we decided this was a great place for a get together and make it possible to meet more grey nomads.
From that day more and more grey nomads have been coming to Greens Lake and the regulars have met many times and many more grey nomads.
After that Beth54 and myself settled on a Qld get together at Gympie at the Cobb & Co camp. There are few more met up but because of the cost it was decided to find another alternative, settling on Wuruma Dam.
Now Wuruma Dam has become the winter get together and Greens has become the summer get together.
Other places have now become popular as in Sufil's out of Perth and a few others around the country.
They have all started by the need to meet other grey nomads and make new friends from this site.
Anyone can do the same, just name a place, date and time. Might just be for coffee or a few days at a campsite.
I've lost count of all the grey nomads I have now met.

We've met lots of members of the other Forum that we subscribe to, still waiting to meet a Grey Nomad. What do they look like, just in case we encounter one on our travels?

we have met quite a few and become very good friends with several. While we don't see them often the friendship remains strong. A few good friends is better than lots of 'aquaintances'.

I agree with Marj - Simmos question is not one to "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" at - hes relatively new here and asking a good question.
Simmo - "bumping" into another GN on the road doesn't seem to happen often. You may miss one by minutes, so it seems many either arrange to meet when they are all in the same area or go to GN hot spots like Greens Lake or stay at generous hosts like sufil.
Jules and Marj are spot on from their experience

Gday...
To be honest, from my experience having been on the road full-time for seven years throughout most of QLD, NSW, VIC and lots of SA and some of WA, I have met only four other members of the forum in that time - without counting get-togethers at Greens Lake.
Of the four I have met on the road, I PM'd each of them to organise a mutually convenient meeting place as I was coming through an area they had mentioned on the forum they would be. They were not meetings at my (or their) camp but somewhere for a "coffee".
Thankfully I have met two of those four about four or five times since when "on the road" and just "bumping into each other".
So I guess, from Simmo's observation, there are definitely very few meetings of 'GN members'.
Whilst we are an 'interactive' lot on the forum, this is a VERY wide, brown land with 1,000s of camps, millions of Km of roads and 10s of thousands of travellers.
The chance of simply bumping into a fellow GN Member traveller is almost like winning a raffle. A bit like meeting someone from your home town when travelling.
and it is a good raffle prize when you do win a meeting.
Cheers - John

You may remember this Dwellingup, WA GTG some years ago;
hope he comes back and adds some more of his style realism so we can help us all better ignore some of the fantasy.

I've joined another forum, I can't cope with the excitement here. If anything Simmo added colour, in both wording and content. Hope this next forum has moderation. For those who have put down their knitting to read this, I don't go from forum to forum, I've been a member of a few. This one is men's discussion, not about caravans. I may pop in from time to time, bye for now.
