Mogumber is about 130 kms north of Perth up near Moora. Anyone travelling in the area want to meet up there?. There is free camping for those who want to camp over...toilets only no showers. We will be there about 3pm, bringing some GN,s with us and meeting others there. Should be a good afternoon/evening. Believe there is a C/W band to see in the New Year. (we will be home and in bed before then!!)

Sue - talking of chickens - I hope all your hens survived all that food I fired at them yesterday.......there was so much that even the rooster got some!

My apologies if any one was in the area yesterday and tried to contact us...who'd a thunk that somewhere so close to Perth would be a blackspot for mobile reception!!
Anyway it was a great night We saw everything from 6yr olds having their first go at barrel racing to state and national champions bullriders and everything in between. And one clown in particular was hilarious. ( clowns not only keep the audience entertained in the few quiet spots in the program but they get between man and the animal when they come off and deflect them from inflicting any damage to rider). We didn't stay for the band and to see the new year in and got home before midnight.
Jules and Billeeeee were in bed before midnight but we had a coffee so were still up and saw the New Year in...first time in about 25 years we have been still up!!
and Bruce, the chooks cleaned up every scrap.

wasn't it exciting Sue to sit up till midnight lol......Bev had to work till then, so had no choice.
Would have loved to join you at the rodeo - sounds like a great night..............and glad to hear the hens are still on both feet - I should have worn plastic gloves as my hands stunk for the rest of the day despite lots of washing and lemon juice

Yes - had a great time at the Mogumber Rodeo, we had front row seats, thanks to Red Dog and his family who spread themselves out to allow us to fit in, when we got there.
The quality of the riders and animals was first class, and I think the animals may be treated better than some of the competitors - a lot of much loved in fantastic condition animals. The bucking bulls and the llittle steers for roping etc., was a lot of fun to watch - don't think I would last for one second, let alone the required minimum of eight seconds! When a rider fell, the whole crowd went - "OOOOOOHHHHHHH" and "ouch" in sympathy .
Some of the barrell race horses love the sport, they are beautiful to watch, and the their speed is phenomonal!
Jimmy the clown was hilarious - danced for us, wore a sequin dress - put on bouncing stilts and ran around (not an easy thing to do on soft ground) - kids loved him.
Thanks for taking us with you Sue and Phil - we really enjoyed it!!!!!
(Bruce - we are always in bed, well before midnight - in fact because it was late last night, we slept in till 11.57AM!!!!!!! HAHAHAA!!)
