So Now my Keith is acting camp ground caretaker. Well a lot of foreign tourists in their whiz bangers like to come in late after dark & leave at the first flush of dawn - therefore not paying any camp fees. Well they haven't taken Keith's doing a job well into consideration. A couple of nights ago 2 lots of foreign tourist in their whiz bangers arrived - after dark - about 8pm. Keith walks down to them & reluctantly they hand over their fees (not a lot - only $5). Then just after 10pm another one arrives. Keith is not so happy to have to get out of bed to tend to them. So after he takes their money he gives them some advice. If they go to the toilet be sure to turn the light off after other wise the insects come in, & then the frogs come in to eat the insects, then the snakes come in to eat the frogs. Oh, the tourists ask, are there snakes here. Oh says Keith, there're everywhere. And also check there's no red backs hiding behind the toilet roll holder. I asked Keith why he told them that. He said well they got me out of bed & now they will have something to think about.
So off they go to park up their whiz banger & they go down to where the other two have parked up leaving a respectable space between them. So these last arrivals squeeze in between them. Of course the others were already asleep & were not happy to be woken up by whiz banging doors etc & so told them to move away. So they did - right up close to us. Now this campground is large, open (about the size of 3 football grounds) so plenty of room. Keith then went out & asked them to move over further. He said there's plenty of room over there. But they said, No we are too frightened. Not sure if they were afraid of the other campers or Keith's story of the local fauna. OK says keith You need to move over there or leave. So they decided to leave.
The rest of the night was peaceful. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL CAMPERS IN WHATEVER RV YOU HAVE. KEEP SAFE IF DRIVING & ONLY HAVE CHRISTMAS CHEER (BOTTLED SORT) IF NOT DRIVING. Cheers from Alice

That is really good. Serve them right for trying to cheat the system in coming in late. Just a pity some people are like that. Have a Merry Christmas everyone and a great New Year.

One of my hates, people arriving after dark and taking all night setting up , having no regard to anyone else. usually the later they arrive the more noise they make.

Don't blame this kind of behavior totally on overseas campers. The ones that indulge in this type of thing most frequently are Grey Nomads. That's our observations over the past 5 years of traveling a total of 6 months of every year. Has anyone noticed rules & regulations tightening up over the past few years? You can thank all the ''stealth campers'' for that!

A few years back we came across a Tasmanian couple on the Nullarbor and shared a free camp with nibbles and drinks. They had a name for people arriving after dark "pumpkins". We still say to each other on hearing the arrival of late comers "must be pumpkins".

it used to be Bloody Victorians,in WA it was bloody Mandurahites now it is bloody grey nomads, do we ever stop to think why? i hear back packers and kids as nuisances, rarely any negative mention of camper vans and caravan families. Anyway to everyone have a good and safe Christmas, with regards late and early, there are actually threads on various forums advising you about this. Most are to do with dodging rangers but there is also showers and fee dodging

Anyone having travelled/camped in Europe will know to steer clear of Ozzie Backpackers camping near them. Or where they Kiwi's ! It's the same most places, some people just dont think. No matter what Nationality.
