Does anyone know whether Marsol is closed for good, or just for the Christmas-New Year break? A note across the top of their Ebay site says the business is closed, but there's no mention of that on their website. I have a malfunctioning 200watt solar panel on my motorhome and need to return it under warranty. I have not had a response to either my phone messages or emails; my first was on 15 Dec. And yes, the panel and wiring was installed by a licensed installer; the same installer verified the malfunction of the panel.

As their Web page doesn't indicate that they are closed - request a quote from them on line - as they will jump immediately at the prospect of a new order if they are there, then ask for phone number to discuss quote - then you can talk directly to a principle of the company.

Thanks Possum. Yes, I did just that early this morning. I figured they'd respond to an enquiry about a potential purchase .

Uh oh ...... thanks for the ABN search etc, Dorian/Guru. Agree, it doesn't look good. So much for companies offering a warranty on the products they sell. Looks as though I may have done my money. :-{

I had a look at various products on their wholesale web site:
Most items are Out Of Stock. Maybe they are trading until they clear their inventory.

Thanks again Dorian. I've now just checked their stock as well. Mine is a Hurricane - that came with a 25 year guarantee - which means nothing if a company goes out of business!!

UPDATE: MARSOL INDUSTRIES went into liquidation in Dec (2015), along with the other arms of their Family Trust!! These include Hurricane, Solar Energy and Batty Batteries. A warranty is worth nothing when this happens.
Sadly, someone told me that they had paid Marsol for a solar panel on 24 December but not received it.
Cheers, Frannie

These are the only two notices I found at ASIC's web site.
Unless my searches missed something, ISTM that no notice was released in respect of the December 10 liquidation date until the liquidators got together to decide on a date for a meeting at which they would determine how much they, not their creditors, would be paid.
Agenda items are:
1. to receive and consider a report from the liquidator(s)
2. to fix or determine the remuneration of the liquidator(s)
3. to fix or determine the future remuneration of the liquidator(s)
4. to appoint a committee of inspection and, if so, who are to be the committee members
5. to consider the early destruction of books and records
6. any other business

It's always that way in "fire sales" - the liquidators, and the tax department, get theirs first - all others get the rest (usually not much). Can I ask what is meant by No. 5 in the agenda - to consider the early destruction of books and records? Did the proprietors burn the books and records? Sounds like fishy business to me.

If the company went into liquidation on Dec 10, why did ASIC not issue an appropriate notice on that same day? Why did it wait a whole month before announcing that the vultures would be feeding on the carcass?
Why is the company still trading? Isn't trading whilst insolvent a criminal offence? I just visited Marsol's web site and went through the motions of ordering a solar panel kit. There was no warning that my money would disappear.

Hi Franniemac,
Did your installer give you any idea what the problem was or how it failed? I ask because it's very rare for a panel to fail. The original panel on my motorhome failed but I managed to find the fault and repair it, and it has been working fine since then. OK, granted it helps when you've got some knowledge and that enabled me to repair it. Point is there's plenty of people here that might be able point you in the right direction if its fixable. If you said where you are you might get lucky and have a "techie" from here close by that might be able to help or give you a second opinion.
Regards Steve.

Hi everyone. As a former employee of Marsol Industries (Administration Assistant), I was made redundant due to the business floundering on the 23rd of November. Two weeks later the business was closed down by the ATO and put into liquidation. Employees didn't receive their annual leave or superannuation. Customers who had ordered panels on a PRE-SALE order didn't receive orders. The liquidator has frozen all accounts and is selling all assets. I do feel for all the loyal customers and it is sad that it all had to end the way it has. I am currently unemployed if anyone knows of a nice company who are looking for an Admin Assistant :)

Marsol's web site is still trading with no indication that the company is in liquidation:
At Marsol Industries we pride ourselves on our customer service. We offer a 12 month warranty on all our products from the date of purchase, unless otherwise stated. Marsol Industries warrants its products against defects in materials and/or workmanship. If a defect arises and a valid claim is received by Marsol Industries within 15 days of purchase, Marsol Industries may, at its option, repair the products, provide replacement parts, or arrange a full replacement. If a defect arises and a valid claim is received by Marsol Industries after 15 days of purchase, Marsol Industries will replace the parts needed to repair the products. The warranty period for commercial use is 3 months.
Are the liquidators criminally negligent, or is this normal practice? Who can we trust?
