Hello all, boy does time fly when you are having fun! We have been so busy touring, that I rarely these days, get on the computer to write. Having said that, finally, I have put fingers to the keys, and started my blog. Time was getting away, so October and part way into November has been set out, now I can get on with the rest of the year, hopefully before Christmas. (haha)
If not, I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, and a safe and prosperous new year.
a good read John and Lorraine ... there is nothing better than slowly wandering through this land.
So much to see - so little time.

Wow..... What a great read ...... All very helpful in the planning of our retirement adventure.
Tassmania has always been on the bottom of the list but now looks interesting....... Although I cant see me there in shorts and t shirt ...... I will freeze......

Thanks for your blog Dunmowin. We are booked on the big boat in mid January and will be following a very similar path to the one you appear to have taken. After spending 2 or 3 days with friends in Ulverstone we will be heading to Waterhouse to meet up with friends from Hobart (we have travelled with these folk several time on the big island). We plan to make our way slowly down the East coast going as far south as we can get with our van. We then plan to head north via the Great Lakes before boarding the boat in Mid Feb (nowhere near long enough but my lady has medical appointments on the 17 Feb so we have to be back by then).

Wonderful read, great photos. Did my first trip to Tassie 3 weeks ago a 4 night cruise and only stop Hobart with 11 friends, definitely want to go back and see more and you have made it a must do.

RL, yes we do tend to travel rather slow, but at least we can guarantee we see all the out of the way places, eventually.

Rainy 1850. Our first visit to Tas was back in 2001/02 (three weeks over Christmas / new year) in a camper trailer. Have fun.

My wife and I grew up in Tassie. Moved to Victoria in 1990. In all the time we lived there we never had a real holiday so we are keen to spend time looking and not just visiting family (most of them have move to the mainland now).
We had hoped to spend more time there but my wife, who is currently recovering after near 9 months of chemotherapy, only has a 3 months break from visits to doctors. Her next appointment is 17 Feb (we get back to Melbourne on the 15 Feb). So sadly 4 weeks to the widest window we could grab with Christmas with family and a daughter who turn 40 in 19 of Jan. We are more than thankful to have this time in Tasmania - even if it it too short.
I would love to have any suggestions you might have for free camping on the East Coast. Our friends have never travelled with their van along the East Coast so they are not aware of too many spots. Wiki Camps will be a great asset too I expect.
Yes, we have managed to get a little further than Greens (LOVE it though). We had a nice trip to South Australia in 2014. It is not easy to get too far away at present though so Green is a great destination (3 hours from home).
Are you still in Tasmania? If so, how much longer are you in Tasmania?
