Yes you have to keep your eyes open these days. In Carnarvon a 9Kg is usually $40 at least at the C/van parks and gas suppliers, and they always check the date of the bottle BUT.
At the Caltex / Woolies ellcheapo petrol station for the last 12 or so months, 9kg are $25 and they have never checked the date. Over the last year or so I have saved a couple of bucks and unloaded about 4 out of date bottles with out any drama.
You win some, and you loose some.

Hi Simmo
I prefer Coles/Shell $25 for 9Kg swap over and 10c a Lt off up to 150Lt of Diesel, plus your 4c docket from Coles supermarket plus Flybuy points. My swap over bottles have been in date, but Coles do not check either.
But for some reason our caravan takes thinner bottles than the normal BarBQ type so need to check the diam B4 the swap.

Sue - it doesn't say in the advert how much - can you stick your head out the door and call out to us if you know the price lol.....
For the past 2 years BCF nationwide will do a 9kg refill for $19.90 - but they do inspect the tanks for expiry date before taking your money (BCF and Rays are both owned by Super Retail)

Yes, it seems like there are different horses for different courses, but as I said above $25 is slightly better than $40. Also I can steal I can steal a $1 without getting a red face.
