Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on towing a baby caravan, such as a Little Guy, with a Suzuki Jimny ? According to specs, the Jimny will do it comfortably. I'm planning a trip round northern NSW, nothing too scary, first time out and going it alone. I don't want everything and the kitchen sink, just towing a place to sleep really ( hence plan to buy the Little Guy or similar mini teardrop ) plan to wwoof is possible.
I know a lot of people tow the Jimny behind there big rigs, but how about anyone driving one as their Nomad-mobile ? Thanks all, and happy holidays

I have a Jimny which I have used to tow a box trailer. Goes ok, you need to check the tow ball weight which i think is fairly low. if the mini van is light enough it would be a great car, take the rear seats out of the JImny and there is reasonable storage.

Hi Jen,
I have an A Van Weekender which your car could easily tow.
It has a tare weight of 375kg and a towball weight of 30kg.
It is so light you can easily lift the front and push it around.
I Have it for sale for $9500 ono
I live on the northern rivers if you are interested.
You can see it by searching A Van weekender on the search button at the top of this page or
Searching A Van weekender on Gumtree campertrailers or
If you want I can try and post some photos on this site.

The Jimmy's bigger brother, the Sierra would be a safer bet & a more relaxing proposition.

Fishing buddy with a new model Jimny finds it a bit slow to stop with 500Kg trailer on the back. I think 700 kg is the upper limit. I suggest you consider serious electric brakes might be needed once the weight of the trailed vehicle get up there. A teardrop should be OK on the back and consider keeping the heaviest gear in the Jimny itself, rather than in what's behind. Not sure of the dynamics but the loaded vehicle seems to stop more reliably than when light and trying to slow a heavy trailer.
Lightly loaded Jimny goes great down the bush and sand tracks to and from the beach.

Thanks Desert Dweller, I have my eye on the Sierra, and plan to go ahead with purchase in coming weeks. I plan to travel very light, and want to make sure it's the dog wagging the tail when I tow, not the other way round
I'm not sure what I will tow, but am not interested in dragging a house behind me. Am thinking maybe a simple enclosed trailer, and thowing a matress in the back. Simple and light.

Thanks Iza - great tip re stowing the weight. I plan to be the heaviest thing onboard
I'm setting up for simple short weekend trips out, just a matress in back, a lantern, an esky. That's about it. So much to see in northern nsw I want to follow those little lanes to see where they end up. Happy travels

Cheers Jonesy, Am not quite there yet - but getting closer. I'll keep an eye on your post to see if the van is still around when I get there.
