Diesel at Peak Hill between Parkes and Dubbo on the Newell Highway is -99c a litre.
Word has it that an agent for "Caltex" is purchasing the site with the intention to set up a major road house.
Caltex/Vortex fuels to be sold with all the add ons.
Current diesel prices reflect their intentions.

JohnR Hi, The old open cut mine site at Peak Hill is worth a detour on the way through, not a bad little town for a look around.

And I recommend staying at the DD caravan park. Was there on Wednesday night, it's super clean, brilliant showers, with cemented drive through sites.
No noise as it's 3 blocks back from the highway.

After filling up with diesel at 99c liter at Peal Hill you can meander down the highway (Newell) to Tomingley Pub. in the direction of Dubbo. Bistro lunch yearling steak or chicken schnitzel with salad and chips $10-. Also very cold beer Carlton Dry was thirst breaker at 39 degrees outside the comforts of the climate controlled cruiser. Also check out the huge mining operation on the Eastern side of Tomingley and a free camp that may be a bit noisy with the high way traffic.
"Gotta love the Central West of NSW when the mercury is pushing 40 degrees"
