We have to prebook our council cleanup in advance with our details. Your not allowed to put out your house hold goods in our case the Nursery, till the day before.
So we didn't want the locals to go through our valued treasures, so we stockpiled the lot till after dark. All out by 10pm great.
The council truck arrives 6.35am and not a thing left 10mins later, great service.
So far today, We have had three different Real Estate agents phone us with We believe you may be selling. We are just starting to enjoy our digs, we have a private number and told each to pi......ss ....... o...ff.

Report it to your council - otherwise you are just perpetuating this practice - then follow it up in a week to find what action has been taken. If you let it go by you are condoning such practices.

Good service but maybe costly service.
Our council asks if we have any steel items, if so (to me) a steel merchant comes around and picks up the steel, probably on a contract, so hopefully no cost to the council, then later the non steel items are taken away. BUT this operation may take up to 4 days to complete. My version may not be 100% correct, just what appears to happen.

So if you need/want to put rubbish outside on the footpath (?) (for collection?) you need to 'pre-book' the council to pick it up and to put that rubbish out not until the day before you want it picked up/collected?
Is that what you did?
So following pre-booking, and I assume nominating the day you required pick-up/collection, you put the rubbish out at 10pm on the day before collection - so the neighbours would not pilfer your rubbish.

I assume you believe the calls from the real estate agents are somehow linked to the putting out of rubbish and/or the council picking up that rubbish.

Yep, same here, Council asks to separate steel so we comply. What do they do. Put the hole bloody lot in the same compacting truck.
Go Figure.

No problems with kerbside pick up in Brisbane.
The council advises by a letterbox drop of the WEEK that they will be doing a free pick up for each suburb (Seems like an annual event).
So we all put the stuff out on the preceeding Sunday & then the drive bys start. Often in trucks or beat up old trailers as well as family groups etc.
One of my neighbours picked up an old stereo system out of my pile & so I rummaged around & found her the user manual. Always waves as she drives past these days.
I've had people stop & pick up a pushbike & leave behind a more beat up one.
Then there's those who open up TVs and take out stuff that they want. Others seem to specialise in white goods .. for the metal?
Quite often there is little left for the council contractors when they finally turn up.
Back to the Council story of the original post ... reminds me of many years ago when my company (Telecom), used to wire multi occupied buildings for communications. The council would provide us with monthly reports of all building applications so that where appropriate we could contact the builders to specify the cabling required & to do the work during construction. Might be something of the same occurring with your council.

We don't get clean-up at all. Our tip used to be free, but now it is charged - I think at $15 per load - and you have to have the load sorted in your trailer or you pay more. The tip is only open a couple of hours on a Wednesday and Sunday.
I do a 20 min drive to a free one, mostly out of principle.
Our council is definitely corrupt, but aren't they all?

I'm very happy with the performance of our Brisbane City Council, even though they are of the opposite political color to me.
I can see no evidence of corruption.
For my part even though I don't agree with the political & social views of more than half of our politicians at Local, State & Federal levels, I think that by & large they do a great job & are frequently maligned unfairly. And yes, underpaid as well.
Look around the world for comparisons & you just have to be very happy with the social system & politicians that we have.
Merry XMAS to all ... including our long suffering pollies.

Years back They and the RTA, back then decided that they could only do road works at night>All Bloody night for three weeks straight. The council said wear it, all night long.
So all the residents rang the Mayors home number PLUS the councillors home numbers Plus Mobiles to get the MESSAGE that folks have to get up and go to work for their bread and butter.
