If the van is insured then that is their job to organise clean-up.

How long will it be before the authorities introduce a "S" plate for these older drivers? They are clearly a problem.
Luckily no-one, including the fool who caused the accident, was hurt.

Perhaps a 'Y' for young drivers, plus a 'T' for tradesmen not forgetting an 'A' for Asians or 'I' for international drivers. Oh I forgot 'D' for drunk or drugged drivers.
While we are at it maybe a ban on bull bars within city limits and a surcharge on 4WD vehicles.
Unfortunately, we all make mistakes, just like this one that thankfully resulted in no apparent personal injuries.

Not a mistake, out and out carelessness, and that's exactly what the driver was charged with.
Incidents like this are avoidable.

Saw something similar out from Noresmen WA 2 years ago, guy with a camper trailer decided to pull off, to a rest stop on the other side of the road, broken lines so OK to do so, did not notice a B Double coming up from behind to pass him and cleaned up his vehicle and the camper.
Being inattentive at the wrong moment (concentrating on pulling into the rest area, with road ahead clear/ Behind not checked)can be deadly.

Yes I have to agree, just a split second of in-attention and it's all over, something like that happened to me when I was returning from a fishing trip up in the North West,
I was travelling at a good clip on a long straight stretch of the North West Hwy, when all of a sudden a B double shot past like his back-side was on fire, It scared the hell out of me because I had only looked in the rear vision mirrors a couple of seconds before that and couldn't see anything in sight, the Semi must have been down in a dip behind me .
I could have easily been going to turn off for a break at a rest stop on the other side of the road, luckily I didn't, as I wouldn't have been here today if I had.
