OK, it's fairly quiet in here at the moment, so I will ask a question. If it is a dumb question, I will apologise now so we can get down to a serious conversation.
Question:: Can anybody recommend a website where I can get current 2015 up to date Stamp Valuations for Pre-Decimal (Feb1966) Australian stamps. I have 1,000 s of them and plan to start selling them on the local notice boards at say,,,,,70% of current value, as starter kits for kids. In fact I might make the price 60% if somebody buys 3 of the sets I am making up.
Anyway I wait with baited breath for a link to a site.

As usual I am not much help Simmo
My wife is a collector or Australian pre-decimal stamps and has also been trying to locate such a website for some years.
Despite asking a number of stamp dealers and other collectors and trawling the web searching she has not found one.
Consensus seems to indicate no such site exists.
I think there is no current, up-to-date book printed with current prices/valuations available either.

Its a real long shot, but what about the Post Office - they presumably have a section (probably a retired person doing it as a freebie to save them money) that deals with stamps and can point you towards various sites, catalogues and dealers. Maybe have a look on their web site or email their customer service people. If you explain you are doing it for non-profit reasons, they will probably be more interested in helping you.......
And Simmo - I don't care which area you post in - just keep posting!! Keeps this site alive as so few do post and most just lurk or might comment and some of your posts really are funny and give most of us a good laugh

Recently went to a coin and stamp fair to try and sell bits and pieces of my grandfathers and parents collections. Other than the original round silver 50c coins, everthing else was virtually worthless. Also not all round 50c coins are silver and just worth 50c. First Day envellopes were selling less than face value. I had stamps pre-Federation that I was told when I went to a fair about 40 years ago to hang on for my grandkids as they would be worth something then. Wrong. Pre-decimal coins were being sold in bags for almost nothing. Similar with stamps. Good for collectors but disappointing for investors.
