Such a sad situation and so early in the season. We haven't even got to December yet, there will be more to come I'm sure.

Yes Happywanderer, It's a shocking start, and it's not officially Summer as yet, as long as the winds keep blowing, the fire danger will remain high and no one can stop a Bushfire once the wind gets behind it.
Lets hope there is no more loss of life, to-date, 5 lives cut short, a tragic start to any fire season.
Please be careful out in the play-ground People, if you see smoke, head in the opposite direction, "very quickly".

Kiwijims on ABC morning news a firery said it was 77 known and possible more.Just done a search and it stands at 87 at the moment. Bad news.

Just purchased a rural property in the Clare Valley 6 weeks ago on our way back to the NT.
Couldn't contact the tenant for 2 days & thought the worst. When I did contact him he said fires were 20kms away from the house & he had dropped his phone in the loo, hence no contact.
Feel for those that have lost everything.
I thought the Esperance fires were bad, until I read this. !!!
