In the new year we are traveling across to Tasmania on the ferry,my question is,will i be allowed to leave the
fridge in the back of the Colorado switched on,running off the 2nd battery or will i have to turn it off. Also
as we are traveling across on the day trip, should i book into a caravan park in/near Devonport or free
camp somewhere near the ferry point?thanks for your help, any helpful advise will be appreciated.cheers.

Hi Subaru with regard to you leaving your Waeco switched on and running whilst on the ferry you should be able to do it as I have previously travelled across on the ferry twice and left my Waeco running both times, with regard to booking a site in Tassie it would depend on what time of year and taking into account school holidays and other special events in the area.
Take your time over there as there are awesome experiences around almost every corner, on our previous trips we spent first time six weeks and second time ten weeks, hope you have a fantastic time in Tassie

Subaru Hi,
There is no problems with the ferry operators running a leckie fridge. However they will NOT let You run the gas fridge in the van. They will put any loose gas cylinders on a trailer for collection at the other end & ensure the fixed cylinders are turned off. As You are probably aware they will check for and confiscate inflammables. Don't bother hiding Your AK47 under the bonnet as they look in there too.
The CP or free camp is a personal choice. Plenty of both.
Mike.

Hi Subaru
If the battery is capable of 12 hrs no issue leaving it running we transfered all our van fridage stuff into the waeco leaving the freezer food where it was ok for the 12 hrs.
With in 12 ks of the ship you have 4 C/parks and several free camps the camp at Forth is awesome lovely grassed area on an oval and beside a river with the pub 400 mtrs away.If daylight saving is still on no issue getting to these places before the light fails .
Love Tassie
