I'd be willing to use one. I like the fact that the operator can sit on it to stabilise it rather than chasing it around the floor with your foot.

Great idea - depending on price and size (room for items is always an issue in a "small" home). I have my lidded bucket in the bathroom, dirty clothes straight in there, when you turn the water on for a shower, let the cold that comes through first fall into the bucket, when you have about half bucket of water and clothes, time to wash,
Paint stirrer from paint shop or hardware - the Big Green B have them - add eucalyptus wool wash - plunge the stirrer up and down as often as you feel necessary, wring clothes out, hang on the line - water a tree with the wash water - perfectly safe.
Works for me - and cheap as well.

There is a slightly easier way. Just take off one thong (foot wear) and use your foot as a plunger/agitator. If you are balanced by holding on to something it is much easier than using the paddle. As an added bonus you finish up with a clean foot.
I used to watch Chinese seamen doing their washing this way on a wharf in China. Very effective.

Thanks for that Phantom, but I like my little "washing machine" - and I it looks like it is hard work, well, the "boss" will come and take over from me

I guess a spin and 30 min soak then spin M/T water .. Spin to dry .. Dunn..
I saw this on the net and thought how many of the Grey Nomad community would benefit from this machine.
Not only does your clothes but you get a gentle workout too.
Maybe a better bet than those Revitive Circulation devices.

Very interesting.
I found this web site that claims to have invented the first pedal powered washer:
