Hi - we sorted out converting the twin beds to a double - placed a board across the beds and put mattresses on top for sleeping and as singles during the day .
Now what to buy/keep in the van ?? What are your must haves that you can't do with out?
I have kettle, radio, first aid kit, plastic plates, cutlery, saucepan/frypan, coffee mugs and plastic cups.
???
Thank you

Jewels Sparkle, I'm not sure how far you want to go but, the average Caravan fridge only just makes the grade during winter, and in hot country in summer don't do the job properly. So I reckon a portable fridge like a Engel etc is essential if you like the occasional SIP. Also if you have a roof skylight which can be like a spot light at 6 am, a block out can be very nice if you want to sleep in. It is quite simple, A piece of cardboard with 4 or 6 pieces of Velcro stuck on, and the same amount of pieces glued to the roof so you can block out the skylight will make your nights a couple of hours longer.
good luck.

Aussie Disposals produced a range of checklists for outdoor activities including Caravanning www.aussiedisposals.com.au/checklists
Check them all and compile one that best suits your planned activities.

I tried to post this before but it got lost in the ether - Aussie Disposals produced a range of checklists for outdoor activities including one for Caravanning www.aussiedisposals.com.au/checklists
Use these to compile your own list of essentials to suit your activities.

Check out this sit for space saving items.
There are other sites also selling this stuff and it does save space at a price.
Throw out the Plastic 'crockery' and put together a basic Corelle ware set. Relatively light, robust & much better to eat off. We have setting for 4 but this can be cut down to 2 if weight/space is an issue..
A couple of wine glasses of the shape that they use for tasting at wineries are a must. Store in stubby coolers to prevent breakages.
The lightest outdoor cooking set up is also a must. I prefer the double butane canister cookers. They are now back on the market with explosion resistant cookers & gas bottles. I use mine on a very light roll up aluminium table with a cheap BBQ cover for set up & leave use..

-where possible buy 'square' shaped things - they pack in better.
- a bucket of occy straps - they have multiple uses
- head lamps - leaves hands free and a must for night time especially around the campfire

If you are in to campfire cooking, forget about the heavy cast iron camp ovens (fantastic as they might be) & go for Bedourie ovens, made from pressed or spun steel. Though I'd keep the single iron jaffle iron & a couple of home made toasting forks + a good billy with a spout.

Wow - thank you everyone - food for thought !
Some FAB ideas but not sure about the waterbed filled with wine - might push our load limit - how would I explain it if pulled over for a weigh in?
I love this forum and will probably have more questions after our mini trip next week.
