After just purchasing our first motorhome we have done the research and found Insurance but our insurance does not include Roadside assist. In my research into roadside assist I have found majority or Roadside Assist Services only really are a cover for a towing service.
Can any of you experienced Nomads advise on what you do for Roadside assist?

I have NRMA premium road assistance - covers more than just towing and is covered on Australia gazetted roads.
Good inclusions, we have had to use it a few times and found no problems with the service

Being Queenslanders like you, we choose RACQ & took their top 'Ultimate' package so that we had towing coverage for both our tug & caravan.
It has a lot more than just towing too.
Am pleased to report that we have never used it. This is our first year.
When not touring we switch the cover to out town car, on line.
Have a look on line to see which package suits you & your Motorhome, or give them a ring. They are good to deal with if somewhat expensive.

We have our motorhome insured with Ken tame through cmca and it includes towing and breakdown only had one claim for a windscreen and were great to deal with cmca members get discount

Try searching under "roadside assist" and variations like "roadside assistance" and "insurance towing". Many pages of reading - hopefully something that will help you

RACT Ultimate for our vehicles & Mercedes Sprinter Campervan. Had a major claim last year with campervan being tilt trayed 30km to Monto Qld on a Friday afternoon & then on to Bundaberg mechanics ( high pressure fuel pump failure) on Monday which also covered 3 nights accommodation at Monto & 1 night in Bundaberg & we could also have had a hire car but we opted to travel in the tow truck. RACT & RACQ liased to provide us with excellent service & can highly recommend their Ultimate Cover option if they will cover your type of vehicle & also check out the other things covered as well.

Cupie. We had RACQ for our motorhome in the first year. Then discovered that, in spite of the fact that they took our money, they would not attend a call as they considered a 4.950 ton vehicle too big. Their words. I complained about the years subscription, they apologised but that was it. Now have road side assist with the vehicle manufacturer. Mercedes. Funny thing was that when we couldn't start the vehicle in Springsure, Mercedes sent out RACQ. GO figure. Other motorhome folk have had similar issues. Cheers phil

Perhaps it is critical to carefully read the agreement conditions carefully & where there is a potential issue, have them give a written clarification. I had to do this in relation to the width of my van which was a couple of CM wider than their specs.
Of course your experience is more valid than my as yet untested opinion.

You can find their conditions on the individual association web sites. Go to the one you are interested in and read it carefully. If you can't get satisfaction through their web site then email them. Get the latest info from the horses mouth rather than info that may be dated from here.
