I just went in to have a look at the photo competition and was surprised although probably shouldn't be that a new member had almost filled a page with his photos which would have taken a fair bit of time, but had no time to properly fill in their details page not even a name, I suspect the word has gone out that Cindy has got some great prizes for the photo comp and we are again going to be inundated with members that hang around to the end of the competition and we don't hear from them till the next competition.
An option that may work for our members who are serious members of the forum not just prize chasers is to enter you need to be a member of 12 months standing and you MUST post only photos that address the criteria and be photos taken by the person submitting them.
That's my rant for now what do others think

Sounds good to me David
some forums do have such restrictions to help prevent this sort of behaviour.
Up to Cindy though if she is ok with it I suppose we will have to be too.

Fair point David. By the way who is eligible to vote in these competitions?

I completely agree - happens every time - maybe a limit on how many pics can be posted by a member as well, say three or four max. Puts me off posting pics that I have taken, and think are ok.
Have just looked at the posters profile - he has never posted anything until the picture competition came along - not fair!

There is a judge who makes the final 12 decision, then we get to vote revemike.
I did notice a first posters photo the other day. When I checked his profile he had been a member since 2012. Had never posted till now but still eligible.

Thanks Happywanderer. Do you know if voting is restricted to member only?

Sorry Cindy BUT that is why I don't enter photo's in the comps here. Most of the time I don't even bother 'Tuning in' . I love the forum just not the photo comps. I have been in serious photo comps before and been a judge as well in the past.

We're long term members of wildlife photography forums. Everyone's looking to make a quid out of their images. We give ours away for free. Our images are on many tourist websites including some overseas sites. It's pretty obvious when a photo comp gets invaded by ''out of towners''. Our main reason for travelling is photography, we haven't got anything to contribute to the current comp.

I have entered a few of my favourite shots in this competition, and I hope everyone will enjoy them, I did wonder about someone just filling up the screen with everything and anything. I, love Revmike's and Desert Dwellers pics I think they are aways stunning and, Im envious of their talent, however I wonder if some of the photos other people put up are actually taken by the person, It sometimes seems the just go searching for pics they like and wack them up. I could be wrong, but thats just my opinion. Any way good luck to everyone.
Cheers
