Hi, well, its been a long time since being here, but I am finally getting my Hino RH160. Picking it up in Adelaide and driving to the Gold Coast. My question is, what is the best and quickest route, as I am time limited for the present.
I will be driving alone, so will need rest breaks. Also, have never driven this way before.
Thanks and regards

Ok you said Quickest .. So up through Wagga, Bathurst , New England highway . The coastal roads are nice .. Too many hills and small towns .. Unless you want to go Great Ocean Rd Vic then North ? Not shorter though.. I go from Sydney to Adelaide / Mt Gambier two three times a year..
Newell high way is another ..

However, I know a few who go via Mildura, Hay, Goolgowi, West Wyalong then up the Newell as per going via Broken Hill (above)

Personally I would use the Newell Highway. The route through the New England Highway is a great drive but a bit hilly if you want to get to the Gold Coast quickly.

I suggest - Mildura, Hay, West Wyalong, Moree, Warwick, Gold Coast.
There are plenty of caravan parks along that route, if you wish to overnight in same.
There are also a good number of rest areas on these main highways, with signs at regular intervals in NSW telling you distances to the next few rest areas.

Never done it from Adelaide, but from Perth to East states, we always go thru Broken Hill /Willcania - nice and flat.

That's the way we came down to Adelaide from the Gold Coast earlier in the year.
Would so the same again no probs.

Agree here as Adelaide-ites with family in the Nerang / Gold Coast region.
Barrier Highway is slightly longer by a few Km - but is far easier traffic wise and hill wise and we believe therefore is shorter in time.
