Hi all just need a little advice on what spares and extras will I need to take with me on a 6 month tour of Western Australia. I am a solo traveller driving a 30 year old Nissan Civillian bus, Deisal. Thanks for all the helpful tips I have already gleaned from this site and thanks in advance this one.

I have recently completed my first 'full Lap' of this huge country. I ensured I had a good jack, tyre repair items, tyre compressor, spare fuses, engine oil, spare gas cylinder and a tool kit with the most commonly used tools. For emergency I carried long life milk, extra tins of food such as beans, lots of fresh drinking water and more drinking water. I also made a point of keeping my diesel tank topped up at most towns/road houses. The point that sticks in my mind from travelling through WA was the great distances one can travel without seeing any other traveller.
I also had a UHF radio and carried a satellite phone, just in case.
Fortunately I needed none of the above items as my trip was without any emergency incident.
I hope you have a great time like my wife and I did, also without any emergency problems.
I have no doubt forum members with greater experiance the myself will offer more specialised advice.
Enjoy and stay safe.
Colin

Before I left for WA I made sure the van was thoroughly checked over. As I am totally incompetent in the mechanical department, I didn't carry spares. I couldn't even change a tyre if you paid me (too heavy). I was lucky, the only trouble I had were tyres scrubbed out. Was able to drive to nearest tyre dealer. Just relied on top cover from NRMA.
What I did make sure of was always as far a possible, was full tank of fuel. Also supplies and water for at least two weeks. Phone, internet and UHF added to the security.

My wife and I have been around the coast of wa it was great but as far as spares go we took a lot of stuff around australia and didn't use it including extra spare wheels. Really there are people everywhere if you run into trouble. the main thing is plenty of money because wa is expensive. Also a uhf radio is the best and you will find the trucks are too willing to talk and cooperate when overtaking etc. We have a sat phone but have never used it.

We can vouch for that too, so take some spare cash & don't forget to take extra cash as well.
