We found it does not pay to leave the cap of the toilet cassette on the side of dump point pit. Knocked it down the hole. Lesson learned $20 later for new cap.
Olive oil helps slide when applied to rubber lip seal for easier sliding.

He who knows - dropped the cap from ours in a dump point, but we were miles from anywhere,. so put a plastic bag over it secured with gaffa tape - worked till we got another one.
He dropped it in again, but managed to get it out with the pull down thingy from the awning - yukk!!!! Glad it's not my job.

Just this past weekend our friend was emptying in the dump point. This one had a tube about 150mm diameter standing about 400mm high to pour into.
Being heavy (the cassette not the friend ) he rested it on the tube while pouring. Just a slight wrong move and the pouring spout dislodged from the cassette and.....you can guess....straight down the tube.
He tried a 3 hook fishing jag on a line but couldn't retrieve it.
Ordered a new one about $25 online.

when emptying our cassette have often contemplated the number of caps that have been lost in this manner.
I always remove the cap and place it well away from the danger area while carrying out the operation, don't fancy digging around in that stuff.

Bet there are plenty of phones at the bottom of dump point tanks.
We have a friend who has destroyed three phones by dropping em in the toilet, some people are just slow learners.

Back when I was in the RAAF, we used to wear peak caps which we tucked into the waistband at the back of our shorts, when we went indoors. One of my mates, who'd had a dodgy curry for lunch (this was in Malaysia), had to race off for an urgent call of nature. When he got back, he was holding his damp cap in his hand and had a forlorn look on his face. When I asked what was wrong, he explained that he was in such a hurry that he had forgotten about his cap, and didn't realise it till after he had completed his business, and was doing the paperwork. When he was about to deposit said paperwork, there was his cap, sitting in the bowl staring back at him, and that wasn't his head sitting in it.... We gave him a very wide berth after that.
